I believe one of the problems is that the VIP type is pretty confusing, consisting of many different things.
Perhaps you should split it all into a modular subscription system... the basic thing is classic membership, and you get access to new things in a modular fashion.
Perhaps a player of a playerworld could decide to buy forum access and guild creation rights, but has no interest in the gold servers, graal2002 events or developement things.
On the other hand, someone with a gold account who regularly plays Graal2002 is in a kingdom, and has not need for guilds. Yet he currently pays for that, as well as for forum access he already has.
With a modular system, both persons could buy exactly what they want, and with a lot less confusion and complaints than there is now.

* Play events organized by Linux Cyberjoueurs Staff (Konidias)
* Use new software freely (Graal 3D, we work on that since months)
* Be able to manage guilds and Player Worlds (Chong is rewriting all this software to make them more powerful and this cost money)

All that for less than the price of a cake each month! Then what's the problem ? If you don't want to be VIP then that's your choise but don't push other to do like you.

Asherons Call 2 cost $50 on shop and you have only 1 month of gameplay, On Graal you pay $19 and you play lifetime + you get 3 months of gameplay on all gold servers !

Then it's hard for me to hear all this complains, most of you play Graal each day more than 4 hours! Have you some idea of what cost the renting of 10 servers, the salaries of 4 peoples, the renting of a office in Paris?

We are putting all our energy to try to make old customers happy when most company will have focused on new market, it will be mush easier for us to just stop new features and publish Graal in Europe, Asia or make a completly new game.

It was a pleasure to work hard to give you all this new feature and now when i see all this complain it's really not worst the effort !
I hear ya. But it wouldn't hurt to keep in mind that Graal mostly consists of players under 17. Most of them are pretty much anti-whatever and think that anarchy is the best way to live life.

I would like to know more about the paying for playerworld thing. I sort of understand, but I sort of don't

Now that I could agree with. I only need PW and Forum stuff and that's pretty much it.

I don't think Linux Cyberjoueurs will 'screw us over'. I mean the are a profesional(sp) company. If they do 'screw us over' they can get sued and all that stuff.

Well gold gets us everything we have now but if we want to test stuff and here all the new ideas they are working on etc your gonna need VIP.
So I would say gold is better than VIP for playability.

Thats silly, Gold should have VIP Options too, as if gold is higher than VIP we should get previews and news too, as I want that, which mean I'd have to degrade my accnt? Woah...

VIP is an upgrade.

I do think it would be a better idea, possibly, to offer a small discount on the VIP upgrade for those that paid for a Gold account that isn't close to running out or something like that. Otherwise, if the account is near the end of its Gold run, they pay the $19 for the VIP upgrade.

ok VIP limited gold play
gold = unlimited gold play

they need VIP Gold then= Everything out of each 1, as I want news and preivews but VIP will make gold play only happen on Saturdays which is why I saw it as a degrade.

Gold have more than VIP, you have everything a VIP have and you can play 7 days a week on gold servers ! (And yes you will be able to create guilds)

The only features that Gold don't have is the testing of preview version (Like Graal3D).

It's exactly the same VIP card you buy for Cinema, when you have a VIP card for Cinema you can see film 1 week before everyone, it's a privilege...

Quote:
Welcome, tlf288!

Your Gold Subscription will last another 2 years 63 days and 8 hours.

Your VIP Membership will last another 364 days and 23 hours.
So obviously VIP and Gold is kept seperate, atleast timewise.

I didn't bother reading this whole thread because I figured it would be arguments about people who don't know what they're talking about.

How about everyone says "cool cant wait until it comes out" and then waits for it to come out to ask the questions? It's not officially out yet and all the information has not yet been released so wait before you make your comments.

Very I hope.

I need something to look at, for some reason the first thing I thought of was a first person view and now I can't it "un-picutred" from my mind. I try to think of something else and I can't

Mayb this is why I signed up for VIP membership

No, I haven't seen any improvements yet. So for you patient ones out there (unlike me) you can just wait to get a VIP membership.

If there is some improvements I sure hope someone will direct me to it!

I don't technically have money, but I'll try to coax my parents into letting me tap my small reserve so I can get the VIP account soon. I want badly to see the 3D stuff.

He's giving those who have a VIP account a chance to look and play with the new Graal features that will be released after the first of the year for everyone to see. Also, it is to my understanding that VIP accounts will have permission to 3D development tools for playerworlds.

Well, using the same code like the server will also help making the scripting more compatible, and the player movement in classic mode is better (better check for blocking tiles), and
the interface will be completely changed probably allowing more stuff in the future.

Waltz5 is an unknown quantity at this point
I still want to know how buying a server will work, like will it just be you pay for a dev server, and then once you get it up to the PW review team's par you stop paying? Or will you have to pay as long as it's up. Or will it be a one time deal? I'm very curious about this, and if it's not the way that I first mentioned with the Dev server, I can't see them selling a lot unless they're relatively cheap. Which I can't see them doing. Sort of like their Gold and Silver memberships (not Graal Gold, the other one on the companies site)

Well maybe Stefan could shed some light on this .

Ah, ok I am happy now, since I will not lose my guild and I will let the others who were worried that I know (they dont read forums) know that nothing for gold accounts changes. I will also upgrade to VIP though maybe in a few days. This is a good idea since the players can give opinions on the new thigns before theyre released

Um, if the full year Gold account is only $39 and then you add on the $19 VIP account, you're only spending $58 a year. Its when you go for the shorter periods like 6 month and 3 month that it will cost you more Your best bet is the full year. Even though its a lump sum, if spread over the course of 12 months, its cheaper than the 6 month or 3 month accounts.

If you only want 6 months for 3 months access, be ready to put out more money.

Full year by using two 6 month accounts: $56
Full year by using four 3 month accounts: $76

Add the $19 to either one and see what you get. The four 3 months is the most expensive in terms of actual cash value ($95). So which is better? $58 for the 12 month gold plus VIP, or $95 for four 4 months plays VIP? The savings are passed onto you for getting that full year gold subscription. I'm only interested in the VIP, myself. I like 2k1 and 2k2, but like I already said, I've got a playerworld to develop

Yes, my apologies, it was different this morning. In the morning you only had 3 options, and the VIP one was 3 months graal gold and all the elite stuff for 19. It's obviously changed now, so I retract my statement.

I suppose this might work, but I think in the first year of graal 3d things will be somewhat underdeveloped and won't exactly be a big hit, but I look forward to it
