Pokemon wasn't some massive phenomenon before Nintendo licensed it. Just like with TONS of games, they are made and released in Japan, and if they sell well, they are usually translated and brought here.
The cards, movies, show, merchandise, etc, all came AFTER the videogame's success. I remember when it was released in the US, pokemon red and blue for gameboy came out, and like 2 weeks later, they started the TV series, and then it just blew up from there.
Just like Digimon... Digimon started out as little keychain pets that you fed and battled with other keychain pets, and then it got it's own show, and cards, and toys, and everything.
There is no reason to think Graal couldn't have a TV series, toys, movies, etc... It already has merchandise, and many symbols such as bomies and stuff.
