That's already in place, it's what causes the disconnection deaths in the first place. People disconnect but their account is still active online for about 10 seconds, therefore the monsters get free shots at you.
And the way I'm understanding your solution is that even if you get disconnected you're still active for 2 minutes, which is worse.
