They're either very stupid, or very good actors.

Jesus, it's only 15 dollars, you could find enough change in 1 week if you wanted to and looked hard enough. 15 dollars for UNLIMITED play, that's the best deal I have ever seen. I wish I could play a game as much as I want for 15 bucks :-/

I can't say I agree with the "This will kill Graal" thing some people say, after all if less people will play it'll make the servers cheaper to run (Less bandwidth used == lower cost), there will probably stay an equal amount of players who will keep their account fully upgraded (Still the less bandwidth, but also still the same money going in), and due to that Graal will only make more money then it did before.
That will (hopefully) mean Stefan/Unixmad get more inspired to improve some things in the client, then we'd get more people upgrading, etc. so it's basically all good.

[Edit]
And as for the parents not trusting you with the phone bill thing, just say to them up front what it is, say you'll pay for it yourself, and that once you've done the phone thing you won't have to bother them anymore. With a bit of luck you won't even then have to pay yourself because you offered to pay yourself :P
[/Edit]

I like the phone part now many people that couldn't pay with credit card can now pay with phone so i think if you come down to it we won't lose many people just the people that say graal is not worth $15 which i would pay for a great game like this i payed the 40$ for a year subscription anyways so 15$ would be ok

$15 isnt any thing for a life time subscription hell most people waste that much on junk food. As for paying for other peoples subscriptions I've already done that I upgraded for Shadow Knight and another really good friend. Who in there right mind would upgrade for a stranger I mean for all they know they could be upgrading another Googi.

I didn't read all of this thread, too tired.

This seems like a great idea, except that I have to deal with the angry players on Classic that don't seem to realize how much Graal costs to run. Protesting on the bridge just causes more chaos.

I don't know if this has been answered yet, but what will happen to the staff accounts? Lyndzey_GP better not be scratched...

Post In my (somewhat questionable) opinion...

Personally I think this is a bad idea. I can see the plusses (only people who genuinely like Graal will play it, thus eliminating a large amount of the unproductive population) but I honestly can't see how this will help anything.

For example, as I'm signed on right now, there are 20 people on Graal p2p servers. There are 287 people on non-p2ps at the same time. Those servers will soon become cost-y, as outlined in Stefan's grand scheme. However, those people are NOT on those servers for the content (although that's kinda an added bonus). They're NOT on there out of loyalty to a certain PW either. Wanna know why they're on there?

Because it's free.

We will lose a sizable chunk of skilled Graal players who disapprove of this idea. Call them freeloaders, or people who don't contribute, or whatever the heck you like, but hundreds, perhaps even thousands of people who keep the free playerworlds up, yet don't want to pay, will quit. And if all the free playerworlds lose this many people, pretty soon, there will be just 20 people on there too.

... Then again, that's just my opinion. And if I'm entitled to mine, you're entitled to yours. Feel free to argue with it at great length.

Freeloaders

They will find out later in life they can't have everything for free. When you go to a game store, do they hand out all the games for free? I think not. Learn to live with the fact, everything cost money.

I'm aware of that, but if you walk into a game store, when you possess a perfectly functional game, do they prod you and say "Upgrade your game now for only $15 or all your save games will be gone and you won't be able to talk to anybody!"? Last I checked, no.

I know Graal has to make money... it is a company, not a charity, after all... but I believe it should be like we have at the moment, with the option to pay rather than the requirement.

You pay 15 bucks to play the game and keep your data. If your gonna whine and be a freeloader and not pay, you lose your data and play trial mode.

They are giving everyone a 2 month warning and time to upgrade to p2p or upgrade to the $15 lifetime deal.

Many new things will be added including a new version. They most likely have staff there already working on this stuff.

And guess what? I got this too!

And voice conferencing, your own space on the server, skins, yadda, etcetera.

In principle I agree with these ideas... Graal needs improvements, and if it needs more money to get 'em, then that's fine by me.

But hold on one second!

(Here is a long and probably provocative section. If you don't agree with it then that's okay; I don't make you accept my point of view.)

If Graal is switching its price policy, I'm assuming the old plan was not successful. And if introducing a system whereby you can't play most of the time was unpopular, then why do you think that might be? Not extreme enough? Personally, I think it was too extreme! Think about this for a second. Why might you not have upgraded? Because you resented there being more restrictions, instead of more features, to provide an incentive to pay for a game which up until then you could play free? When ghosting was announced there was literal outrage among free players. Now they've got used to it and it turned out to be not bad. But having everything you've done wiped at regular intervals? Don't you think this might get an even worse reaction?

(Provocative-ness ends.)

Note I assume the old plan was unsuccessful. If it was actually functional then I apologize. But, as the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke - don't fix it.".

Don't get me wrong, I like Graal, and personally will (probably) fork out the $15. (If you're wondering, this account was upgraded with a fake CC. No, I did not know this at the time. I believed I was getting a legitimate subscription to a fun game. The first I heard of it was when I woke up one Sunday, went down to play Graal and found my account was disabled.) But on behalf of those who won't, I don't believe they should be forced to.

I think more people will upgrade instead of quit because remember you can use the phone to upgrade and most people would rather use a phone than use a cc they do not have.

I don't know about that. I know a lot of people who view upgrading as a kind of surrender. =P

This whole post is argueing back and forth over the same thing, if you actually sit down and read it all you notice the same thing is repeated repeatedly by different players.

Most people don't read it completely, so the same thing get's said again, getting around the same replies from other people who only read the last page of the thread. Which is probably why the repetition has set in.

What really? But then the magical bandwidth tree will produce bigger fruits, and everyone knows the small ones taste the best :P

And for clarity, I do completely agree with you though.

Just for the record, I wouldn't listen to all those people on Classic. The majority of them are acting like idiots at this time.

Next thing you know is that they will form a "Graal Liberation Squad" that devotes itself to holding Graalians hostage in the game in exchange for keeping Classic free

Well it's called Business and Graal whether you want to admit to it or not IS a Business and unless you OWN a part of it , then you won't have much or any say so in it , that's life and I hate to put it this way but get used to it , life is seldom fair.

???? didn't I already post that on here somewhere?

Hey! Don't talk to psyker like that! and don't be rasist.

He will post the same thing over and over again to get the point stuck in your mind.

"People are to use to graal being free"

Thats a true fact, People only complain about this because they are way to use to graal being free, If graal was P2P at the start, people wouldn't complain...

Graal has come A VERY LONG WAY.

Graal has to support it self!

I mean jesus guys! Graal is allowing you to host your on playerworld (small!) on their servers! HOW GOOD IS THAT? thats FREAKEN AWESOME! But to do that! They need money!

Money goes to:
Server
Workers - (hey there are like 8 or so people working on this game)

So come on! 15 dollars is like nothing! NOTHING! It will remove the 8 and 9 yearolds who don't want to pay. SO come on! Give into the plan

That's not racist, man. That's a stupid quote I made up after watching Murder By Death for the 15th time, that one of my friends has an obsession with now.

After all he is protecting his game right? His original ideas and designs right? He's protecting his work right?
