The assorted 2k2 idea thread!

We haven't had one of these in a while, and there's a few points I'd like to reiterate. Plus a couple new ones. I'll be damned if anyone involved with 2k2 actually reads ideas posted in the main forum, but it's worth a shot.


1. Replace unstick me

I had an entire thread devoted to this one, in which everyone, including Stefan seemed to miss my point. So, here it is, good and blunt.

Instead of having 'unstick me' warp you to another level, make it so that it warps you to where you entered your current level. This will benefit roleplaying immensely. Unstick me is used, 90% of the time, to avoid being killed. This may work on 2k1 and classic, but it will not on 2k2. If there is so much emphasis being placed on being able to capture and lay siege castles and town, why in the world would you ever give people such an easy escape? The besieged will simply wait 30 seconds, warp to another partof the island and attack the invaders from behind. Simply being warped to where the player entered his current level will free any "stuck" player, without greatly interfering with roleplaying.

Besides that, how many people will use your boats if they can simple shout a command and arrive at their destination ten times faster?

2. Horses, not Draisines

Judging from early screenshots and Stefan's comment, draisines (and consequently railroad tracks) will be making a return in 2k2. This is especially saddening, as one of the reasons 2k1 looks so unprofessional is the mass of tracks covering it. It would be a shame to see the beauty of 2k2 ruined by such an unnecesary addition. Not only that, but they hardly fit in with the implied time period. The alternative? Horsies.

It's very simple, really. A player simply goes to a horse stable, and purchases a horse. If you really want, you could make it so that the faster and more agile a horse, the greater the price, but let's not overcomplicate. The player then recieves a horse whistle. Whenever the whistle is fired, the player's horse comes running. Much more aeshetically pleasing, not to mention plausible.

3. Food --- but not like 2k1's

Since 2k2 is supposedly a "roleplaying server" food is a must. However, instead of using 2k1's clunky, rarely-used system, make it so that the player's food supply is naturally, automatically drained. When a players runs out of food, his speed will slow, and his HP begin to drain. Don't restock in time, and you die. Different tasks would cause the food intake to increase, such as running up a mountain. Food could be purchased from markets, or taken off of randomly placed berry trees, or something similar.

More as they come, and feel free to post your own. Try to keep them reasonable, though.

No GoCarts

1. I was on 2002 and I saw they had GoCarts...That is not right, Looking at the time it is and all it makes no sense to have that in the game.

I agree with most. I think there should be something to disable a player that is killed during an RP seige or battle. That way it's not so much a matter of who get's bored first and leaves.

I wish they made it the only way you could play on 2002 is if you have like over 700 hours on 2001. So no newbies can get on.

I would like to see a new sword type system.
Now that 2k2 is using the numbers health instead of hearts it would work.
I would like there to various swords like fast but weak swords and powerful but slow swords. This would give it a more realistic feel and now because the new health and the sword being an actual NPC weapon now this should be no problem to script. Just make the gani play faster for the lighter swords and have the damage they do less and vice versa for the more powerful one.

Yes, definitely. There's been much discussion on what happens when a player dies, but I think they least they can do is prevent a killed player from reentering the levels where the battle is. I'm sure Kai could figure out how to make that one work.

What happened to all the assurances that 2k2 wouldn't just be a prettier 2k1? I don't care if it's the most fun, advanced mini-game Graal has ever seen. It doesn't belong on a roleplaying server. Period.

4. Extension to food idea

Each castle has stock of food, brought from markets by kingdom members. When a player is in a level in the castle, or just sits at a table, his personal food supply is not drained, the castle's is. When a castle's food stock is depleted, food is drained from the player's supply. Therefore, a true siege could easily be laid. Corner your enemy, and starve them out.

Blah pots
Sleep = Healing up sicknesses and posions (sometimes)
Food = refuels your statima(sp?) allowing you to move faster
Bandages = heal wounds
Potions do all of the above better and sligthly faster

That's a very good idea. I hope they impliment that.

I think having the traditional Stamina, Strength, Speed, Magic, etc. stats could get a bit sticky. Just have speed decrease when the player runs out of food.

It more like
at when food meter is at full player runs at a little bit faster speed that normal
When its down a little normal
Mid range low slows a little less than normal
Low slows down alot more than normal
Danger slows the player to a crawl
and no food = passes out

I wasn't too upset by that. There's nothing wrong with having an economy, the problem with 2k1 was entirely fueled by it. It's those damn minigames that are going to piss me off.

I guess. I'd prefer to leave it a bit simpler, but either works. It's really just an expansion off the same idea.

I mean wha if you dont have any food and you pass out and you get peeps like hero mc dohl whos being mean and wont give you some food or sumthin then you like just sit there and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait some more!

Just have HP decrease when food runs out, until the player dies.

Things I hope 2k2 won't have

1: Modern-day hats
2: BOMYS
3: MINI-GAMES
4: Loriel err yeah sure
5: Admin toys
6: Events Team

Altho handheld games liek metris is sort of acceptable
Also if you really want to have Mini-games add a dream realm
So you goto a bed and you drift off into a fun filled land of mini-games!
