I know Godspeed already added Trebuchets, but heavy weapons like battering rams should not be an NPC. People should have to get inside them (maybe 3 or 4 people) and actually control the battering ram. Seige onagers (those massive rock throwing things) should also be controlled by a few players and not just be controlled by one player or be an NPC. It would be a good idea to make it a job to load rocks on a onager (maybe 3 or 4 hits of the d kay would load one rock on the catapult). Scorpions (large arrows that fire at masses) should also be developed

3) Weapon durability
Your weapon should be able to be destroyed in battle. This way it adds realism and a blacksmith now has a job, he has to repair broken equipment

4) Bloodlines and archers ring
Small peices of equipment like an archers ring should increase accuracy to the target and increase damage. Bloodlines should be added to saddles to increase effeciency too

5) Churches
There should be a church amongst every kingdom, and churches can generate a small amount of revenues for players. If a chuirch happens to find a relic then the people would be insipired to donate materials towards the churches cause
I love the trading route idea. The kingdoms can transfer goods say on a wagon or something from market to their castle or whatever, and they can be ambushed on the way there and thier goods can be stolen. Its really realistic.
