You must not know, The Game, the Japanese were poised to surrender. The US gave them almost no time to consider it before Truman ordered the dropping of the atomic bomb. The bomb didn't save lives, it cost them. If not for our selfish insistence that they surrender their Emperor, who was like a holy cow to them, they would have surrendered months earlier.
The United Sates' stubborness prolonged the war.
That's what caused deaths.
