How do you generate a map??

Well if you have the map.txt made have an npc set it to connect the levels. Hit f4 then hit m in the level editing window.

So all you basically have to write out is the levels, in "whatever_a-01.graal/nw/whatever" etc etc and then hit m in the window, and it makes the minimap gif, and bigmap gif for you?

No it only makes the bigmap, you have to resize the bigmap to make minimap.

when i try to make my maps i follow the process but when i open the map file it is all black!!!! plz tell me the problem here

when u use level generator you must make a small picture of the lvls you want made----it uses RGB value so u'd might as well make ur own palet.....there is a guide for that in the folder though to help ya out,and why r u askin this don't u already know about this?

o.o u need hook3d on phonics
same folder that there is the level gen exe file there is a html file that explains how to use it

arg, I want to be on the PW team so bad. The people already on it can't even generate a map or use lvl generator. What is the world coming to. Someone on the PW team please have tryouts soon!

PW Testers dont need to be technically advanced in order to tell a good playerworld from a crap playerworld.

You should talk. Maybe he doesn't know how to use it, but once he finds out I'll bet money it's better than UN.

I believe it has to be 256 colors, or it will show all black

That happened to me before when I put the wrong filename in the npc for setmap imgfile,mapname.txt,x,y;

It also did it to me when I forgot to type in the name for a level or misspelled the level name in the textfile.

Try checking those things.

You have to read the levelgen.html to know what the colors are for each type of tiling (trees, pond, etc). Once you know, add it into MS Paint. If the color is 24, 140, 0, then you would add it as R[24] g[140] b[0]

You scribble it onto your map, which should be 64 multiplied by the number of levels you want going east-west and north-south. Then, when you have the size for your image, it should be pretty large. you just add the colors from levelgen.html and draw all the stuff. I know the mountain color is already in Paint, its like the brownish one.

When you are done, save it as a 24-color bitmap. Then, convert it in PSP to gif. You could probably use something else also like IrfanView. It should say 'the image must be 256 colors' or something like that, then it will save it as a 256 color gif. Then, you open the levelgen.exe and find your gif. You select the folder you want the levels to go into, and the name of your levels.

Once they are made, I always open the first level (mymapa-1.graal) and add this NPC

NPC Code:



setmap map.png,bigmap.txt,0,0;

Then I enter the edittor again and press M, and the map is made. You might want to rename your png and your txt. Then you can change the script to

setmap toranmap.png,toranmap.txt,0,0;
