I would assume the PWA doesn't need to know scripting. Each server has their own scripters who are supposed to take care of problems, should they arise. Super huge scale issues that spiral out of control may be best left to Skyld and Stefan, anyway.

That being said..the general trend of everyone's sentiments stated in this thread should probably be indicative of how we feel about your final decisions. There's still time to choose someone else to replace you. QQ

I have talked to Grabriel many times in the past and he has always been pretty quick to answer my questions (day or two). He seem's active enough. I am sure Tig made the right decision.

This seems odd from a forum member's perspective. Tig, from all accounts was inactive for months if not years and never really contributed anything tangible from any of the positions he held. NicoX is thick headed and has a short temper. Sinkler is a bigot.

due he has never ever ever develop on graal.... Bad choice

i think a PWA Admin should be able to help with dev problems example server crash or alot of lag ect
be able to fix this problem

Gabe is not 16, lol. And last time I checked, when did the PWA ever have to know how to script? Sure tig held a position on GK, but I do not remember him coming on servers and fixing any "bugs" that the local scripters couldn't fix...
I do agree though its good to have someone on the TEAM of PWA's who knows scripting.

I do agree though its good to have someone on the TEAM of PWA's who knows scripting.

i didnt say script just some knowledge how the development part works just in case if a server is stuck and needs help they can turn to a PWA

There's only a few servers that are kind of complex (Zodiac, Era, and GK) and if they encounter any issues then it's always escalated up to Stefan. Pretty much every Playerworlds/GK server also has a scripter to tend to their minor issues.

The lack of development credentials would lead me to question their ability to approve servers for Hosted/Playerworlds status though.

Any local scripter knows how their systems works better then any PWA. If theres a bug on a server that a scripter can't fix (a real server issue, not a script issue) it wouldn't even be the PWA's job to step in, it would be stefan's since he has direct access to the server. Sure they can try restarting the server, but staff on the server should know how to do that.

IMO, the PWA's duties is to keep stuff in order on classic servers (keep staff in line, make sure they are doing what they are suppose to, respecting the rules, etc) and for UC servers, help them with their issues like logging in when they can't, reseting passwords, adding their rights, etc.

But back to scripting, again, a PWA is not going to traceback through 10 scripts just to fix 1 bug. Most servers have over 3 scripters at least that are capable at finding and fixing it.

On era for example, very rarely do we need a PWA to help us with bugs, etc. It is mostly server issues like opening a port, deleting big files, lagg issues in which only stefan can help us.

I know that the ancient beast that is GK must have been difficult and frustrating to deal with, but I'm glad you at least took on the responsibility of keeping it alive a bit longer.

Thank you Tig for your years of service. I'm quite certain you will do well in life. I know its tough to leave your 'babies' behind but I'm certain its finally necessary. I may actually miss some of our battles .

Now to address a couple other issues. Gabriel is the only logical choice at this time. He's experienced, trusted (a major issue) and it would be reckless to put in a PWA admin with no current experience. I am unable to even do support at this time so although they've all been kind enough to give me a leave of absence and hope I can come back soon, that doesn't appear to be happening within the next month. Gabriel has assured me though that when I can return I will be welcomed. If he needs my advice he knows how to contact me.

While its great when we have a PWA with scripting knowledge its really not necessary. Since hosted inspections are rare they can always ask Stefan to check out the scripting when the time comes. Gameplay is more important, if the gameplay sucks, I don't care how good the scripting is. Its not going on hosted.

Its far more important that a PWA can handle the routine support issues such as account help, ban appeals, server renames and claims of harrasment. Nobody seemed to give a whit that I couldn't script for the last however many years its been. You pick stuff up anyway that are common issues anyway. It has never really been the responsibility of the PWA to fix broken scripts.
