era's current situation

era is very active atm thanks to tim's many updates, but i believe there is the possibility to do even better
i've played a lot the past couple of days and it seems like there are 2 problems with the gangs that cause them to not be as active as they potentially could (i'm not saying they're innactive, the situation was WAY worst when alf was managing):

1. there are too many gangs. before there were 105 players online and we had to wait like 20minutes to find 2 gangs with 4 members each. this makes it hard for events to be an accurate measure of skill especially if a gang has 10 players to choose from and the other has only 4 (assuming that there are enough players for the events to take place)

2. there is more gangs ulms than raiding. in the past 2 days there have been very few raids (only 1 i think), and not because there aren't enough gang members online but because they are all spread out in too many gangs (this problem is caused by problem 1) AND because the gang bases are not desirable. i can assure u it's not only me: the vast majority of the people who i've asked have agreed with me that the old bases were better, especially for the raids with only a couple of gangs and not a huge amount of members. placing a poll on era or simply re-instating old BH base would be good ideas to see if gangs will be more active (i'm sure about it) with the old base format (aka smaller main level with less places to run away and avoid combat). i also think a limit on the number of gangs would be fit, since most gangs are basically playing as parties.

i've recieved a surprising amount of PMs on era of ppl supporting these ideas (after i massed this link) but who can't post here.
just thought i'd say it cuz i got like 10 pms in few minutes, ignore the zod kids leaving negative comments below: they have nothing better to do since their server is dull and they definitely don't know what's best for era

I do agree with you. It's a nightmare trying to find enough gangs with enough members due to how many gangs there is now. I have told Tim numerous times that all we need is a 4-5 gang limit.

I also agree that the old bases where alot better. They didn't need to change them just update them. Now the base is 5 miles round and 3 miles wide.

Also if they think one base is going to work then they can think again. There needs to be atleast two bases.

I know Tim is giving strikes to gangs that arent in the top 10 or whatever or has that rule went out the window also? If you want less gangs tim then stop accepting gangs?

Bring back BH or BB and put it BB location for old times sake. Make a 4-5 gang limit. 20-25 man limit before i lose intrest in raiding alltogether

bh and bb were 2 very good bases, most ppl preferred bh (including me) mostly due to location but also because the heal room wasn't lame as bb's
i like the idea of multiple bases but the reality is that the closest base to unstick is the one that's raided more often, so might it be wise to locate all of the gang bases around unstick?

Fiberwyre_P2P will become famous soon enough
Gang ULMS is better than raiding anyway.

Advantages of ULMS:
-instant respawn; no heal time in the hospital
-no runners
-lots of players in a small area
-no tagless people running around
-no doors to break down
-no homefield advantage for defenders

Advantages of raiding
-ummmm

How many threads do you need to make about the same topic? We've already heard what you have to say about Era's current situation. Tim is doing an excelent job managing Era at the moment, and I believe he will continue to for quite a while. There will always be some issues with Era, but it's not like they're being ignored. They do get worked on and they do get fixed in end. It's just a matter of waiting.

negatives for ulms:
-it gets boring and repetitive

advantages of raiding
-less repetitive
-more tactical situations

I hated ULMS and wanted to remove it for that exact reason.
Normal LMS is an event.
ULMS is just abusing the event system to get quick kills.
When we disabled stats in ULMS (no kills) almost nobody played it anymore. Go figure.

tim was so kind to make a poll regarding the gang system and the results until now are:
18.48% keep gang system as it is
42.08% alter the current gang system
36.18% return to the old gang system
3.38% other

From these answers we can see that more than 8 out of 10 people dislike the current gang system. On the other hand, the old gang system is double as popular but does not behold the majority of the votes, therefore some things of the old gang system should be brought back (i.e. bases, points going negative), but keeping things like personalised gangs/base captures.

What seems clear though is that not altering the gang system would make 82% of era unhappy.

From these answers we can see that only 3 out of 10 people dislike the current gang system. The majority of people (60.56%) are in favour of keeping the current gang system, with two thirds of those just wanting to alter the current gang system to make some slight changes.

What seems clear though is that 3.38% of people don't know what the **** they want.

Era doesn't know what it wants.

Plus more than 50% of those votes are probably from people who aren't even in, or participate with, their gang.
