On a side note, although it sounds very Terraria'ish, I like the idea of the buffs (and even debuffs, like "bleeding") being displayed outside of the inventory window. Obviously some disagree, but I find it more convenient. Not getting into any feature requests, but sticking with the Terraria'ish ideal, perhaps it'd be nice to actually have the option to cut short any buffs you do have by right clicking them in the GUI. It sounds crazy to waste a gelat-based potion, but some people do it, and the short-term cafe perks would probably benefit more from it. I know some people have asked to reverse the effects of a coffee they've taken.
So if i take off my LW every time i log off, i could have that pot for like a month straight? good idea.

Pretty sure he means debuff as-in remove the buff.
It wouldn't restore the item you already used with the remaining time... that would just be silly.

But say if someone used an Ice Latte to run away, but you cannot deal damage while under these effects, they could debuff it and the effects (both positive and negative) would be removed allowing them to deal damage again without having to wait for the effect to wear off automatically.

You're correct in your understanding of what he was saying, but incorrect in your use of the term "debuff".
A buff is a positive effect, like a LW or coffee.
A debuff is a negative effect, like bleeding, or being blinded by a concussion grenade.

The act of removing a buff would be called cancelling.
