New GUI Idea

I was trying to think of a way to make Era's GUI sexier. This is what I came up with.

(The extra bars below your health and armor bar would be your party/gang's health bars.)

Edit*
Here's V2

Not bad but I'd cut off the health bar at the top, I just want to see a number. No reason to waste that much screen real estate on a bar that I can't use in a fight. I'd probably also make the whole thing a lot skinnier so it's more squarish.

Also the party/gang health bars are way too wide, and honestly I don't know that they're even that useful on a server like Era where you can't heal your teammates or cast spells of protection.

Your own healthbar doesn't need to be that large, and the party one is indeed too wide.

Well I'm very dissapointed in the Follow me Rachel, all she does is sit around, the description clearly said "does laundry and attracts friends" she does nothing!

I like the GUI where you can see your team mates health, quite useful in the large base.

You'll notice the FM Alf doll has (rightly so) received the most love~ it's been bought the most by far

Smithers, the V2 version you have: having a spot for potions and stuff is completely useless, there's already a button in inventory for that. Putting something up for bleed time would be cool though.

Also, is your eventual plan for it to take up the whole screen

I would posit that the button in the inventory is useless, because we would have an on-screen timer for that.

Also, no my eventual plan is not for it take up the whole screen. What gave you that idea?

I personally don't like it. There's no reason to change it or to add all those un-needed icons like the potion timers and such. I would be annoyed having all this crap on my screen that I can't hide (currently you can close off tabs not in-use and re-stack them how you want, I personally only keep two bars shown).

Don't like the party/gang bars either... as Chris stated this isn't GK/Zod where you can heal or buff your allies. Or the big health bar, I usually just see my hp as it appears over my head if I get damaged.

To be honest the only thing I do like is the color scheme, as compared to the blah gray default. Then again... I already customized all my GUIs/bullets/text hot-pink so how far will aesthetics go?

I don't think it's a huge concern to think that any GUI would be imposed upon you in the first place. There are already 3 GUI options available to you. Adding another "profile" to those options wouldn't be too hard, making it so that you could add a million different GUIs, but no single one is being forced into use.

My 10 cents, though: Huge bars are definitely unsightly and take up way too much screen real estate. People, generally, prefer being able to see everything their screen is capable of seeing, hence why some people even minimise the current, non-intrusive GUI's already available. Every little bit helps in some people's desires. The health bar definitely would need to be at LEAST 90% smaller before I'd consider using it. Perhaps even the size of the armour bar would be a good size for the health bar.

I like it but the player count is quite low right now now and I don't know about hosting 3 events at once.

Pretty much this ^

Also, I wasn't aware this was a feature idea thread as the GUI is the topic title, so I neglected to bring it up. Adding GUI features (buff icons) = GUI idea. Adding to event functionality = Not related to this thread.

It's still part of the GUI :P

I cut off southridge from the map, too, does that mean i should add "also, take southridge off the map" to the thread title?

Sure, whatever floats your boat. But you missed my point entirely about events. You can't actually host more than 1 event at a time right now. In order to do that, you'd have to propose the event system be altered, rescripted, etc in a way that allows such functionality to exist at all before it can lead a way to your GUI based idea, that's all. And that's just what I'm saying, people aren't likely to mention it since at this time it's not even an option to add such a thing to the GUI.

You can't get to a place where that becomes an option unless someone thinks to make it an option first, which is what I was hoping would happen after someone saw it :P

But anyway, Here's V3. I made it much smaller, took away the party frames, etc.
You can see its size as compared to the old GUI (that's my customized version, albeit still the same size and shape as the original.)

WillaWonka will become famous soon enough
We just need a bigger player count to allow multiple events running at once.

This is a version of your GUI idea that, given the chance of it's addition to the GUI options, I would probably use. Nice work.
On a side note, although it sounds very Terraria'ish, I like the idea of the buffs (and even debuffs, like "bleeding") being displayed outside of the inventory window. Obviously some disagree, but I find it more convenient. Not getting into any feature requests, but sticking with the Terraria'ish ideal, perhaps it'd be nice to actually have the option to cut short any buffs you do have by right clicking them in the GUI. It sounds crazy to waste a gelat-based potion, but some people do it, and the short-term cafe perks would probably benefit more from it. I know some people have asked to reverse the effects of a coffee they've taken.
