I would also suggest that the player should not be able to see what is several layers below them. Maybe just the dirt/cavern areas without minerals until the player is near.

Also how are you going to setup an overworld? Is there going to be a few hundred horizontal levels with the possibility of digging down (or building up)? Would there be multiple overworlds? Would players be kept separate from one and another or on one overworld?

All of your suggestions are pretty good. I am going to say though that the blocks were only a prototype product from Aeko, but he says he can improve on them (although I like them as they are)

Will this have a generator like Minecraft and let the players create / destroy blocks or will be have levels made by LATs?

As you can see from the screen shots, we don't need levels staff to make out map.

Are you going to set up spawn protection? It's going to be hard to manage a server when you have no control over who enters, you see.
Minecraft is a bit simpler because of whitelisting and spawn protection, but a 2D world like terraria is hard to handle with more then 20 people running around there.
Since I'm guessing your server is going to be pretty popular if it finishes, you should be prepared for that kind of stuff.

He means protecting the blocks at spawn against griefers.

Now I understand. Yes, they'll either be made of invincible blocks, or we can have a code to find the nearest safe block, and spawn the player there.

We have been making some incredible progress ever since Fulg0reSama and 0PiX0 joined the team. Here is just a taster of what we have already accomplished in a few days!

Chat System
0PiX0 has made us a beautiful little chat system that displays players chat across the level. It's a neat little communication device that clearly shows messages from other players, with some cool effects added for transition too!

Movement
The movement is up and working! It's got an amazingly smooth movement style with slide/skid effects for player and acts differently depending on your terrain (water, dry land)

Background system
Although it's not currently 100% finished, it's bound to be completed soon, when we get the sky graphics done. It's basically a background effect that moves with the player as they shift along the map.

Could in general make a 2d game like worms, and then just add some of the good terrain **** about Minecraft, make a lot of cool terrain destroying weapons, maybe classes etc. It could be good if you put a lot of work into it.

There was a player who had previously logged onto this server falling around on Classic and other servers with the same gravity movement.
Presumably this is down to a V6 bug, is the gravity just a normal weapon script?

Restarting the game fixes it, but its kinda annoying :P would have been fun if the movement wasn't so buggy you get stuck so easily xD

I would be a lot more interested to see dynamic scripts that allow players to actually build being implemented instead of weapons, honestly. Otherwise it's just the same side-scrolling server concept that's been proposed a dozen times over.

You will be able to build and destroy 'blocks' and weapons will also be there. The idea is a creative and survival experience very similar to that of Minecraft.

Sorry, I would have changed it beforehand had I known the server would be changed from staff only. The font change has been removed, but I am interested if someone knows how to change the chat font without changing those options.
