Indeed it would be difficult to find work that I did as I am not staff. The joke was supposed to be the lack of work that has been done...

Make the area ten times smaller, and put a nice hedge around it.

It's more practical and it looks way better.

I made this cute little block when they removed the mall as an idea for a replacement and showed it to dargaro (guess I need to clean out my screen shots xD), they instead decided to be lazy and make it ugly.

Took like 2 minutes... yet they insist on keeping it as-is with the ugly tables, no detail, rushed grass, random sized sidewalk squares, and out-of-place parking spots.

Step it up Nas!

As hard as this may be for you to believe, you can actually critique other people's work. That is, work you did not do yourself.

There's this really cancerous idea going around Era that work and change = good. Sorry, that's just not the case. Work doesn't inherently = good. Updates don't inherently = good. Unless they actually are good.

Work can end up making Era uglier. Work can end up making Era more unbalanced. Work can create as well as it can destroy. The mere fact that work is a present element (as laughable as that is when referring to Era) does not mean it's a good thing for Era.

Stagnance > Regression.

What i was getting at was the fact he didn't offer an insight on how to make it look better, nor as he attempted to make it look better (as Rogue did in his picture above.) Anyone who has passed the 11th grade knows that you can't make an effective persuasive/argument essay without providing a resolution to the problem or a theory. I was always taught that if you have an issue with something, go ahead and change it. And that carries over on too here. If anyone has an issue with the unstick me location, create a better one or propose ideas. You cant just say "THIS SUCKS"

These are a couple of the 'unstick me' ideas I made a while ago for Era Dev.

Random Beach.

Basically I was going for an 'unstick me' that you could leave in any direction that you wanted to.

unstick me (inside style).

This version was made with the idea of being "noob" friendly. Tutorials, NPC shops, and other important stuff like that all in one building.

unstick me (outside style).

This was just to try something new. I wanted to re-organize 'unstick me' and make it more open. I didn't really try and finish this, as I couldn't find a good layout I actually liked.

Take a look, and yes I am aware they all could use a little touch ups.

Minus the Gold status, it might as well be. It's the same concept minus all the additions of vast open spaces.

The random beach is a little too random, I don't see how an small island surrounded in would effect pk (dive in the water for 5 seconds before walking into unstick?). But I like how open it is.

The inside is the best looking, I don't know why you didn't just go around and change like a level a day to look better while you were LAT, your inside levels are very nice, Era could use a few (every level...) redos. But I don't like the single exit aspect, and I don't know how a tutorial could effectively be added with a purpose... seeing how you can pretty much link to the wiki or support center with a single click.

I like how the buildings are re-positioned in the last one (is that from dev? looks familiar), but it's a really small enclosed/sitting area. And sitting/chilling comprises at least 90% of current Era.

The problem with your theory is that the OP didn't say "THIS SUCKS" nor was he attempting to provide a critical analysis of the unstick me area. The entire point of his thread was to point out a LACK of updates/work, as he stated earlier himself.

Other people then began to critique, which is fine. Obviously there is a distinct difference between constructive criticism and useless complaining.

Your response
Quote:
I can't seem to find the work YOU did?
seemed to go one of two directions:

You realized that he was complaining about a lack of work/updates, and insinuated that he's part of the problem.. If this is the case, your argument is completely illogical. Obviously he's not staff, so obviously even if he had work/updates in mind or prepared the chances of them being implemented are incredibly slim.

OR

You thought he was critiquing the "update" he was pointing out, thereby giving the impression that one needs to have work prepared in order to critique a work. You did not say "Where's the work OR well-constructed critique YOU'VE prepared?" You just asked for work.

All that to say, it seems your first post must have been plagued by a lack of reading comprehension and good wording, because I agree with everything you said in your second post.

Yeah, just an idea I wanted to try out. No harm done :P I think I ended up turning it into a hangout spot in my fish tank house.

Well I still could do this, at the time though I was just focused on making new levels for Era Dev. As for this level it's main purpose was for Era iPhone so that players wouldn't have to leave the game to actually learn about it. There also wouldn't just be one exit, mainly I wanted it to be similar to a strip mall and have more than one entrance.

Yes, this is from one of my Era Dev gmaps, you could probably tell from the tiles being used. But I am considering starting again on the Dev map and just finishing it myself. Players might like that, but they might not. I think if I made all progress made with it public and let players give input on it, then it might be worth a shot.

Just a thought though.
