Just discovered something.

Now, I don't know much about particle emitters and stuff, but I found a problem with the snowfall on UN.

Basically, the script has the particle image changing every .5 seconds, so it changed the image for each new snowflake.
On v5, changing the image of the particle would only change it for new particles...

On v6, it is changing the image for every particle, ones already created, and new ones.

Not sure if this is a glitch, or if it was a glitch in v5.
The script changing the image of said particle is:
PHP Code:
findimg(200).emitter.particle.image temp.newimg

Is it still freezing for anyone else? I was using the older version before this update because it ran perfectly well for me. Now I can't see to start it up at all so I downloaded the new one and can't get past the login screen without freezing.

Not 100 % sure if this is a bug or I'm just doing something wrong, but with GuiTextEditCtrl's when I use a custom profile and use
'textoffset = { x, y};' only the y value of the text is being adjusted and the x does not move.

The script changing the image of said particle is:
PHP Code:

It's an optimization, if you have only one particle template and only simple modifiers then it will try to draw all particles at once instead of drawing it one by one. You could eventually use several particle templates (emitter.particletypes = 2, emitter.particles[1].image = ...).

It has been changed to only display stuff from NPCs which are visible. This was mainly for Era iPhone because some levels have hundreds of NPCs and the player only sees a small part of the level. The best is to use a clientside setshape() to make the NPC visible.

Using the same variable name with temp. and without and leading should be avoided. It is optimizing the use of temp. variables depending on how often you are using it inside the function. Once declaring a temp. variable all use of the variable name without the temp. will also direct to the temp. variable so you should not rely on that using the variable without a leading. before declaring the temp. variable will access the global variable.

This is pretty annoying for things like a spar arena displaying information both on your screen and on a level coordinate, or an NPC that displays obtained keys on your screen for within Quests, I can imagine quite alot of things that were on Classic pre-wipe being affected by this too and presumably will cause alot of issues on other servers, not impossible to re-script it so that it communicates with a weapon to handle these types of displays but for alot of scripters this will be making something that should be simple very complicated, there really should be a way to bypass this.

Sometimes my nick gets "stuck" and doesn't disappear. In fact, it's drawn separately, so when I use shownick I see my nick twice. Actually, this is happening a lot.

With the client-rc, when you double click a file in filebrowser to open it with your default program of choice...

Then you save this file, shouldn't it auto upload like the external rc does?

And you should be able to specify what folder you download to...I hate that files are downloaded to scriptfiles....

From what we've been able to tell, it only happens on laptops with Windows Vista/7 and it doesn't matter how good or bad the computer specs. Both me and Crono has a fairly new top notch laptop and we still get random lag spikes every ~5 seconds or so that completely freezes the client for a split second.

I could be wrong about Crono, but this is what happens for me at least.

I can confirm that this happens on my Windows XP desktop now too.

Stefan: I have uploaded a video on Skills Debug in the temp folder called v6freezing.zip.

It appears that about every 0.8 seconds, it freezes for about 0.2 seconds.

With the latest version I am experiencing a problem when closing the client, as soon as I click X the screen display stays frozen as it is and the client stops responding (though my account remains logged onto the server) until I right click it within my start bar and manually click "close", it only seems to be happening half the time though and entirely randomly, can't really link it to any specific conditions.

I'm also now seeing certain images such as default blue GUI buttons and certain images with a rotation effect (again strangely not all even if they've had transparency configured the same way) with opaque background as opposed to transparent that were previously fine.

I am experiencing this also, except windows sees it as "Non Responsive".
So, I have to go through the whole, right click, close, 'Program not responsing', end it, wait for it to finally close....

I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit.

On a side note:
Are we ever going to be allowed to make external windows non-maximizable, resizable, etc? Would be nice to at least have the ability to make them a fixed size and not being allowed to maximize them.

Aye, I've been having the freezing problem upon closing as well, though I haven't really tried with the new client.

I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit.
I also run into this, hell even one time I forgot I had it on then an hour or so later "Graal has stopped responding" popped up.

Well....v6 has worked fine up until now.

I just updated my graphics card driver software (Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics)
And now, Graal runs so slow...its unplayable. (v5 is fine, tho)

But, it appears to be running at about 2-3 frames per second, and 90% of the time, crashes...so, v6 is now unplayable for me.

I'm still having the freezing problem Tig described.

Intel Core2Quad Q9450 @ 3.2ghz
4GB Ram (don't think I need to get the specifics :P)
Gainward GTX275 (896MB)
500GB WD Cavier Green Power
750w Corsair PSU
Windows 7 Professional

Breakthrough edit-
When I set the CPU affinity for Graal to just 1 core on the login screen the freezing problem goes away when I connect to a server. If I set it while on a server it makes no difference.

I still need more information...
- A staff can do /clientstats on you
- what kind of freezing - the game is becoming completely unresponsive and needs to be killed? when does it happen, when you open it or when playing for some time, and how long do you need to play to make that working?
- is it just becoming slow from time to time? how long is it freezing and in which intervals (each 5 seconds?)

It freezes to the point where you have to close it because you can't do anything, happens usually when I open the client or when I get to the playerlist screen. I've rarely gotten past that and it's worked fine. It freezes for about a minute for me then refreezes immediately after.
