Ruins is almost ready to open!
I will finaly open the server tomorrow (August 4th) at 10:00 AM (GMT+1)
I think that makes it 4:00 AM for people living around Washington or something like that.. well I can't convert time for everyone!

Anyway, there are currently 3 insides you guys will be able to check, the day/night system is not completely ready but you should be able to test it by saying /testdn.
You will be able to visit the first village, called Narwa, and also visit a cave where 3 different instructors will tell you more about the server, the map, the future gameplay and so on!

Switch and I are currently working on giving you guys an opportunity to try out one sword, not by equiping it (the backpack system is not done yet) but by saying a command too: /testsword.
(the sword on my avatar, if you want to know!)

I don't understand what you're opening really as there is nothing to do at all. What I did see however is Esteria's tileset, but with no real charm like there was on Esteria. The tiles are not going to work for themselves, you need to create an atmosphere in the levels like Crow and Angelu did. Nothing else to say really, but maybe because I've seen it all before.

What I love the most is the Character Creation system, it is incredible.

I loved your inside levels, they had a very nice feeling. I'm totally loving the characters as well, great work even though it's the "gold" sprites. I was very disappointed when I walked outside though, it has nothing of the charm I experienced before going out. Very different styled tiles, boring levels and simply a badly designed island.

Oh and fix your idle sword animation. Down and Up looks retarded.

EDIT: And use scripted light effects to light up the windows on houses instead of having bright yellow tiles, it doesn't work while it's day.

Well, I opened the server more to take a pause and get feedback before going in any further development. I was waiting for constructive, which I did get

The tileset is still being worked on. The animations were temp as I needed something quick just to give players something to hold in their hands. Most of them will be re-done/improved.
The windows frames are not supposed to be yellow on day but that's because of the current unfinished day/night system.
I am also considering reworking the first island, and most of images were temporary too (finish this damn tree Elk ).

The sword animations make me feel like im playing Golf, the grab/pull system needs to be redone (or finished). After that there's really not much to add comment-wise, was a pretty bleh experience.

I thought it was a nice preview. He did state that he was still working on the systems, which is understood. But its a visually appealing world, well what I seen of it. The island levels did seem kind of boring, and was missing some details in some area's.

But, if the game-play is going to be as good as the visuals, then this server might be worth playing in the future.

Considering half of my staff went on vacation, I just needed a pause, and also wanted to get feedback to know what you guys like/dislike. I sure had my bunch of noobs begging to be staff, but well a lot of you didn't really like the first village shape, which I understand. But this village is just based on multiple small islands, and it's the only one like that. The rest of the map is just a much bigger island, but if the first map is so important for you, then I might change it.

Thank you for all the feedback and those who considered a visit there yesterday. I really appreciated it

If its going to be the main island, I would highly suggest switch the first island up a bit. Personally, I would like to see it 4 to 5 times bigger than what it is now. The main island is going to be your first appearance to many players, and highly suggest that island look better than anything else on the server, level wise.

Its your first impression, as well as, the island most people will be on.

No it will not be the main island, and you didn't see all the other maps that are much bigger
Well we are completely redoing the first village, we're keeping the buildings but moving stuff, making more space, etc..

The preview was quite nice. Although, to be honest, its nothing I havn't seen before.

It was Crystia's character creation, with Esteria's tileset.
I do love the graphics for the characters though.

The inside tiles are too drastically different from the outside, imo.
The best level of the preview for me was inside that one shop. It just looked great.

But, then when you go outside...I don't know if the tiles are too bright, or if the levels just werent done correctly, but something just didn't seem right about them.

Other than that, I'm quite excited about this. Just keep working hard. ;P

From what you can see, Narwa is being completely remade!
If you have seen the old village on the pre-opening day and remember what it was, I would like your personal feedback on this one exclusive screenshot!

Narwa is now made of only 2 levels. The farm part of the village is located east of this level, and the battlefield is accessible from the west pathway.

Finaly, it's time to announce the real release of Seawind to you guys: September 1st! Seawind, the first island to enjoy, full of mysteries and treasures for you to hunt, will be available with full gameplay, planned quests and the different maps in a bit more than 3 weeks! See you there!

New hirings!

I am currently looking for:
  • 1 Level Designer
  • 1 Pixel Artist

The current staff team is small but updates are coming every single day. Even if we can accomplish everything I've planned for the release day, I am curious to see what you can do!

Application form:
  • Pixel Artist: You will need to match your style with Ruins' theme! I am looking for someone competent enough to represent and shape properly items, baddies and other things such as tiles, aswell as shading them the right way.

    Work required: Show me what you are worth by making a few tiles that would be used in Draelond. What is Draelond? Draelond is a City/Harbour, featuring white castle bricks and a blue environment/tiles such as roofs.
    You can have a look at the tileset to image the server's theme

  • Level Designer: You must put all you have in every single level. The way players will travel is not like on any other server such as Unholy Nation. We don't have a gmap for outside levels at all, but just single levels all linked together. You must make levels with heart and try to make really cute places the players will go through during their journey.

    Work required: 1 Outside and 1 Inside level.
    You can also make upstairs if you wish to, but there will be no penalty if you don't.
