holy **** just shut the **** up and let them work on the server and then critique it when they say it's a finished product

on another note, it's saddening to me that most of the ideas/advice i've given too you two is being ignored. i understand the want to make a server of your own devices, but you could have been finished by now if you had listened to me in the first place

not trying to be a *******. But it takes a lot more then ideas and words to make a "good" server that people will play

Just have to start from scratch, problems create issues which have to be resolved.

Also, believe me when i say this, you have nothing to do with what direction the server goes in Dusty, i could care less if the whole tileset was a straight rip from zelda, Its not because of you I said where these images came from. I saw people loging on and i wanted to be clear to EVERYONE where it all came from. I dont have anyone to answer to, and THATS the only reason i stated where it came from. Obiously locked no one would ever see it besides globals, so i didnt have to worry much about content that was not going to be used anyways. Your advise was taken before you even spoke.

not sure who you are, probably been to long for me to remember. Anyways your right, no need to be childish. Bottom Line. All content is not being used. Expect impressive small release (open town gmap to public gold)within a month or so.

lol ill make confetty fall from the sky in celebration to the first town complete. Themed for castle style, similar to my cross castle that was previewed yesterday mixed with a persian "port" theme as well. Just gotta get these damn tiles done z.Z

My apology to anyone i was rude to above.

If anyone is interested in working with me, we have a lot of new ideas, good systems in creation, that would like to help, let me know.

Just dont get overwhelmed and give up. The gmap is now 25X25.. huge gmap is needed for our plans for this server. We're not expecting to get all 625 levels (outside only) finished before classic release / host. Just enough content to attract players.

I can tile for you, but I don't really have much GS2 scripting knowledge, and I don't have gold (though I have no problem developing offline). Also I work quite a bit so I couldn't devote anything more than a hour or two a day.

everything i said was geared towards making things take a shorter amount of time based around the ideas that were already in place. keeping the overworld small (for starters) but allowing players to see that they were only trapped inside what was a much bigger world which they could not get past (because it isn't finished) is a prime example of advice given and ignored

you see no, no you don't need a giant gmap for all the events and things that are needed, and i've tried to get this point across several times. 625 levels for just you to complete is not the way to go about finishing the server when you could condense that into 125 levels and produce the same result. the size of the original gmap that was in place was already big enough to fit everything in, including some of those bigger guild-related events because they do not need to be on the overworld itself. somehow, however, i don't think you'll agree with my point of view

Figured I'd go ahead and post an update. Since some things have changed, completion has lowered.

Systems: 60%
Weapons: 40%
Levels: 0%
GFX: 50%
Other (event prizes,quests,ect):1% (lol, seriously)

I will be updating this constantly as we get stuff done.

Fact of the matter is even though levels were at like 50% or something, that took a little over a week, and since we're using a different tileset type, and changing the tiles yet once again (hopefully the last time or we'll never release), it is kind of easier to start over than edit everything. Plus instead of having the 4 gmaps we were going to have, we're just going to have 2 now.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to use the current overworld and just re-work the tileset rather than having a new overworld?

no because were going to have a different tileset type, so every single thing will be off probably. Also, things like cliffing will be fixed, and that would just take forever, compared to just doing a new one. Plus adding levels into the gmap is a *****, so again, just starting over is easier, or at least about the same.

I remember Hiro posted this before, but won't bother to look for it.

Why do you need such a big GMAP? If the server is successful it will have maybe like 50-60 players. In my opinion it's better if all the players are close to one another instead of all spread out. I don't get why you need such a high amount of levels to make a server.

Players are going to naturally clump together in some level or area so this isn't that big of deal. They also have a mount system so to restrict themselves to a small area will make that system feel kind of useless.

A long time ago when "Era Dev" was being made the Dev Admin at the time wanted to give cars a use. Therefore, she made the overworld HUGE, so cars had somewhat of a point. However, it was ugly, it was a mess, and most importantly it was useless. You shouldn't develop an overworld because of one specific detail that can just be removed.
