What Era should look like

These are both rough drafts of my vision of Era after the reset. None of the features are implemented yet and many details need to be worked out.

I want to know what you think about the minimalistic HUD, as well as the inventory (Q menu). The new features would include primary/secondary weapons (with a key to swap between the two; faster than reloading), attachments for weapons (details need to be worked out), and the ability to change any key in the game (movement keys, shooting keys, etc), among others.

See the attached images (click to expand). Thoughts?

(note that both of the examples are quick drafts in Photoshop; the real images will be created by an actual graphic artist)

It will depend on the attachment. Certain ones like a laser sight would, but others such as a silencer might not.

Not sure what you mean about using your thread as a base but it's not exactly a unique idea (look at every FPS released in the past 5 years). The idea has been floating around the Era staff team since Sales was manager.

Too bad the idea (Primary/Secondary Weapons, Attachments) is so generic and is done in nearly every modern FPS game.

So if that was your only thing that you were going 1-up Era in.. well your server is screwed.

As for the screens they look good.

Though I think the Up-Left corner should still show how many money you have and other stuff.

I totally like the gun attachments thing.

Lets see some better GFXed guns please. Lets not let the attachment GFXs look like poo.

Fix the shooting range for the reset, it's so buggy. Make use of the Gym too. Like, ALL melee weapons should be based off of strength dontcha think? like the Police club, the stun was nerfed so hard that it rarely ever happens and it happens for like 1 second. Why not make the Stun % chance and How long the stun lasts be based on strength? same for bleeding on the other melee weapons.

Omg, re-add the /sethat command, and allow people to send hats in for upload. Buying hats is absolutely worthless.

Cars should hurt people when you run them over, it's a car for godsakes.

Does the lottery system even work? Or does it just take out a bunch of money, reset once a week, and pretend there is a winner? Shouldn't you get a notification if you win the lottery???

idk just some suggestions.

I voted No, because we've waited months/years and all we get is 2 screen shots, both converting the already too plain gray guis into darker, larger, spread out so they take up more space new ones. (Ew?) Also the explanation is the same as the past few 'this is what might happen maybe idk' threads.

Conclusion: Aesthetically it looks better (lets hope we can shrink the inventories) without accomplishing what Era really needs. Plus it probably won't be finished anytime soon.

Idea: Let's improve the game play rather than how the screen looks, since players can already edit the images however they want.

I want to see alot of random bases like Era Mafia's around the gmap to pk at...
I miss when the box factory was 5 feet away from unstick me and people would lame in there all day.

How are guns going to be balanced? Similar to the current era?....I hope not. Guns used to be so close that the only thing that seperated an expensive gun to a cheap gun was the GFX.

The HP bar could use some work.

Though I do like the GUI's, the counter strike style kill broadcaster, the gun attachment idea, and anything but the HP bar

You walk down a endless hallway and somehow reach the end. Before you are two doors, and once you choose one your back button will freeze. You have only one chance!

Door 1: Leads to Counterstrike
Door 2: Has a 1-8 year wait but leads to Era with Counterstrike style Guis

He said that the graphics are just something he made in photoshop and he would get a graphic maker to actually make it. Therefore, I don't see why people are criticizing how it looks when he said he was going to make it better.

There should be lots of little things that can help gangs earn points such as:

1) Walls spread throughout the city where each gang can tag it and go over other gangs

2) Breakable stuff in and around bases so when there's no one to kill members can just trash others bases

3) Random events such as drug trucks or something breaking down so the gangs have to pick up and carry as many crates as they can back to the base

and then in order to keep people doing these things there could be like an achievement system or at least stat tracking in their profile like "Graffiti Tags: 237" "Points from Trashing: 526" "Crates Claimed: 172"

it's not full proof but I think they're all good ideas

The ability to equip a primary and secondary weapon and switch them at the press of a button such as E or something.

I can't stress how annoying it is when you have to change weapons in battle on a laptop, I spend half my time getting shot

I removed them because they seemed to be simply a waste of space. The HUD should be limited to things that you may need to see in the middle of a fight or when you can't stop and check the inventory.

I actually really like this idea, it would make gangs 1000x more fun. Especially with graffiti tagging. You should be able to make your own graffiti image and be able to tag it around the city until someone else tags over it or whatever.

I also really like the drug truck idea. Like crates you have to get from the truck to your base in a certain time. Then each gang takes turns as the defending side, and the offense side and who ever gets the most crates wins.

I like the drug truck idea..that'd make a great gang event rather than KoTH.

As for the GUI, it looks kind of bland. I also dislike giant inventories because when I'm switching weapons, I can't see the level, which could lead to being unprepared during a raid.

I'm glad you implemented the side-arm weapon that Miffy brought up a while ago, I was wondering if that idea was ever brought into consideration.

Chris, how do we know that this whole project won't just turn into Zodiac's V2 idea? They had a set date for their end project last December a year ago. This is because everyone left the project and left only Jerret to do it. So, is Era's project too big to finish?

Era was supposed to reset years ago. We're already past Zodiac in terms of failure on that front.
