Because without points gangs don't have any reason at all to do
anything. And gangs on Era will go back to being about "raiding" an empty base while all the other gang's members are either off tag or idling in your gang's empty base.
Points also encourage gangs to kill other gang members, rather than picking on noobs. It's a lot easier to kill somebody picking flowers than it is to kill somebody with an M4 running around your gang base, and in the past both players gave the exact same reward: +1 kill stat.
I still think that the point system should be a two-way thing. A gang should be able to reduce another gang's points by occupying their base. It makes defending a must, and adds a bit more strategy to the game.
If a gang is raiding you and they're too strong to defend against, then you could counter-raid and capture their base to nullify the point bonus they're getting from having your base. Or you could raid another gang that you know you're stronger than.
Gangs would start with a set amount of points at the start of the week, and if they reach 0 points at any time during the week then the gang gets a strike. Three strikes and the gang is DELETED.
I would raid non-stop if I knew that by raiding I could literally ****ing destroy the other gang.
