iPhone v PC

The iPhone doesn't have trial limitations, why should we?
Oh, wait cause we pay more? wait that doesn't make sense, amirite?

Don't quite understand why all of the focus and improvements are around the iPhone while we are on the back burner.

- 2,599 of these unique players were non-trials
--- 2,177 of these unique players were lifetime classic accounts
------ 1,266 of these unique players with lifetime classic had at least 100 hours
------ 1,856 of these unique players with lifetime classic had at least 10 hours
--- 422 of these unique players had gold subscriptions and community names
------ 143 of these unique players with community names had at least 100 hours

Obviously trials think that Graal is worth playing, but not worth paying (as much) for.

On iPhone the limitations are similar to on Zone, Kingdoms, Zodiac: you can play for free and become part of the community, but for some stuff you have to pay or play a long time. Right now we focus on iPhone/iPod touch because there we can make more money, but improvements for that platform will also be available for regular Graal and we will also plan some modifications for v6.

v6 is something I think not many of us is looking forward to if it doesn't have nothing to do with removing observer mode.

You should speak with the other top classic playerworlds about trial limitations and cash shops (Era and UN). Would be a huge step in the right direction imo

If you are focusing on the iPhone/iPod touch version you need to have better looking levels.

Or they could actually approach him with a plan (like I did) instead, there's nothing worse than Stefan logging on your RC and all your staff trying to pitch ideas and add input or just being plain* annoying while you're trying to plan.

I never said Stefan should just log on RC and start brainstorming with the staff?

e: I guess what I'm trying to say is that Stefan never really made it known that this was an option, and if it is, he should let the playerworlds know. Had I known when I managed Era, I definitely would've contacted him about it.

Or a dedicated scripter. Apparently he won't hire one, so basically a LAT is scripting everything Stefan doesn't feel like doing.

Who the hell is Xor? Stefan needs to make the levels and scripting better. Like Graal2001 did when it came out that's how the iPhone should be. Show off what can be done.

Oh yes for sure. I keep trying to tell people it's OK to pitch idea's to Stefan. But you should think about it, and perhaps to a detailed writeup about it first. But they always say, omg he never listens. But that's not really true in my experience.

Hard to show off a lot of things with the iPhone's limitations.

Actually, not really. Especially not with levels; they won't effect performance. Scripting can always be improved if done right, and it doesn't even matter when apparently there's no script help to make what needs to be done let alone anything fancy.

Is there anything stopping an LAT from contracting help with a script on his own?

Well, if their not hiring scripters. (Well, why do we call it hiring anyway? ) Nothing is stopping an LAT from just asking somebody to do something for them. Which is preferable to them learning to script on the fly and messing something up.

It's not quite as easy to just come up with a script though when you're not exactly sure what the person needs and how it will interact with the server on a whole... when you don't even have access to the server. Especially when all is said and done, you can't test it first-hand after it's released.

Your right, every server is different. Testbed isn't enough to make sure it's going to work properly. I mean, I don't have an iPhone, can you really script for it if you never play on an iPhone?

Still, it might turn out better anyway.

If you are making more money on Iphone/Ipod, do you wonder why?
Its next to free....
Wouldn't you double profit if you did that to the PC version? It will bring in a swarm of new players...which is what we all want. Graal to be populated and fun again. With time (6 months-1 year) when we develop a brand new community, introduce the classic lifetime subscriptions for a REASONABLE price.

I think long term investments are not Cyberjoueur's specialty. It seems to me that they prefer to make a quick buck here and there in the easiest way possible, and then they sit around doing **** all until the money begins to run low.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

Skyld scripts for iphone. Not sure where you get that they don't have any scripters. From the beginning the main scripting has been done by Stefan and Skyld.

From what I hear Stefan just kind of scripts whatever he feels like doing on there...all I know is that I hear they don't get enough script help as they need.

Do you know what btk does to fresh players? I do agree though, but I don't see them touching the pricing system. I think it was best back in 03/04 but whatever. I guess they're desperate now that they don't have a flagship Gold server.

When Graal started there were no limitations on the PC too. You don't launch a new product with as many barries as possible to deter new customers/players.
