How is this in any way fair?

The rich worked for their worth. Why should we take the bigger blow because of some Era catastrophe? If you think that they'd agree to anything along those lines then you're crazy.

The richer players have most of their money invested in items, newbies do not, so they are losing cash but most rich players trade items

The problem is that right now to many players have too much money. If you just decided to cut that in half then they'd all be screwed for some mess up that the staff didn't catch or prevent.

Pretty much everyone will be affected thats the problem. In reality those who spawned the money will get away with their actions because they bought items. So they will get to keep their items, while the innocent seller will lose his cash. But i just feel like if the rich got hurt a bit more than the poorer newbies, less people would leave or get discouraged to play.

How about not do anything at all and lose 0 players? No one seemed to mind the fact the money got a little higher then usual, and no one actually noticed to be honest. If there is an upcoming reset, whats the big deal of just leaving Era with just a small slap on the wrist and taking a few extra dollars into the economy? Most players do not mind this at all.
