Well, it's like that because I wanted to go with the idea the original one had going on. If I were to do one with my own design instead, it would probably look something like this.

It's larger than the shield template allows, and you need the other views included.

That second one is really cute - could you do some nice side views? Would love to introduce it as a Christmas shield.

The large size is not going to be a problem? To be honest, I'm surprised that GK doesn't use 32px width for their shield templates.

As I'm catching up on posts here this is the one that sticks out the most to me.
This is very beautiful work! It made me think of Oblivion a little bit.
If this gets resized I -really- hope it's crisp quality is preserved...

That tower shield is very nice too but I still think I like Dustys frost shield more

On another note...
Awww my old ice axe is under fire? Dang, I always liked it as it was xD

I like this one the best, only thing I'd change is the design in the middle. Maybe I just don't like snowflakes.
