Sound advice but I don't think this would bring up an error message of file not found?
Usually if an image is "un-transed" i.e. the transparency is not set, it would show with a bacgorund colour block around the head image.
Possibly you have saved it as the wrong format?
It must be a .png/.gif or a .mng.
