Your bringing up another server that changed for the worse, NP used to be the hub for pking back in the day. Taking a different step in development ruined the server. Graal is Graal not a different fantasy game no matter what tile set, event, role playing events you incorporate.

The Masterstorm comment was only put in as this is the traditional next step of the process each time a poll is put up. As will be the blaming of my interference in Classic's issues. People just haven't got there yet.

I would like to thank you for your support to me as a global. I was unaware you were the cause of my gaining this status. All this time I thought it came solely from Lyndzey and Ibonic, but I digress.

In regards to hit detection. I believe I did touch on that without using those exact words. Quite a few developers have offered their help yet quickly realized they were in too deep and left. Unless you actually scripted for Classic you wouldn't understand that the movement and HD are intertwined.
They can be seperated on a small scale as has been done with a few of the spars but for pking in general its far more complicated. This happens to be the current issue being discussed between Thor and Storm. Each method requires different actions regarding what the development team focuses on and what staff qualifications are required. Obviously this is not something visible to average players, hence the feeling that nothing is being done.

A few things:

1. Yes, my disappointing Ex GM Asst and I had Lynzdey hired back in '02 or '03 and we spoke about making you a global. That shouldn't come as a surprise.

2. In regards to the work needed for Classic; Rome wasn't built in one night.

3. I was successful with Shaded Legend for some time because I had a STRONG team and they had good leadership.

4. We knew what the big picture was and we worked as a team. Classic needs the same.

5. I'm not saying the current team is not good, but they need more help. There have been a few volunteers.

6. This is just the first step, and the first obstacle is convincing the current staff what the players want in the content. HD.

well lets see, I quit for 3 of those 5 and I didnt really FULLY stop playing classic until like 2005. so from 2000-2005 I was loyal and even tried to put up with the hit detection change.

Thanks for speaking for me, but the main point I've been saying is that a mere HD switch to default is not going to magically save classic. It won't bring any players here, I could turn off the HD we have now for a week and it would be just as dead as it is now.

Don't believe me? I could have it done, but I know the result already, so what's the point.

A default HD wont mask all the other, larger problems that classic faces.
Not to mention you keep forgetting the aspect of community and what a vital role that plays in a successful server.

Let me remind you again, let's go back 5 years, a couple months before the npc server switch, the HD was DEFAULT, the levels were the GTA levels.

What was the player count?
30.
UN was at 200+.

Clearly it's the HD that is the problem, even though it didn't solve anything 5 years ago.

and as for contego blaming storm for starting the whole mess with custom systems and HD. it isn't his fault, it was forced on him to make everything serverside in the sake of security, so Graal Classic wouldn't be the trainer infested zone it was before. If you want to direct your blame on the custom systems of classic being created, divert your blame to stefan, he was the one that made that call.

I have been back consistently since '05. I started in '99 and I left the community in late '03 and returned in '05 to present.

The gap was life distractions such as loss of loved ones, moving, etc. Thanks for the concern.

Forums tend to lose focus of the topic or issue at hand which is why I spend little time the past 10 years posting on them.

We didn't jump ship, we were inactive for a short time like everyone becomes.

You will probably disappear for a couple years and return one day. Doesn't mean you "jumped ship".

However when we returned, the game we once knew it's HD was drastically changed. I couldn't stay interested. But I did stay with Graal just on a server more like Classic's original HD.

during the age of P2P to the point where an NPC server was forced on us, changing the HD.
The playercount dropped from 150 to 30, I don't know about you, but thats dying to me.

As for the AIDS patient comment, sure you can give him other diseases, but its still the AIDS thats killing him.
