Era nostalgia!

inspired by the nostalgia thread in the classic forum.

we can all agree that Era's current state is nothing compared to what it used to be. share your memories in this thread!

• my first few days playing Era as a trial. my friend made a fake gang called "Irish Mafia" and we would always try to take over the newspaper factory. this was back when trials got a free weapon with 2000 ammo.
• spending time in the mines on my first night of being a p2p trying to make money for a skateboard while talking to Geo who was making money for an AK47. my first Graal friend!
• ammo hacking.
• dual handguns were a popular weapon of choice.
• joining my first gang, Los Carteles. I had to mine something like 600 rocks to join. because of that, I was given a pretty high rank.
• mining 9k for a famas took forever!
• completing the flak quest for the first time.
• getting scammed out of 5k by a section 31 member. I remember crying over this and I'm not afraid to admit it. I was like 12 years old cut me some slack.
• being one of the top, most respected pkers on the server. I always used to get **** for being in BB because back then BB was "the newb gang." I always had leaders offering me spots in other gangs.
• uzi boy!
• selling everything I had so I could buy 700 boxes of uzi ammo.
• getting added to panther international for the first time and using ap7s. I left before being able to use p2ks. getting in PI was a huge goal for majority players.
• knowing that ap7s were the 2nd lamest guns in the game, and they closeley compare to the current server's low end weapons.
• red dublin.
• getting my first job in a business at gun point.
• buying my first AK47. an AK back then compares to a high end weapon now!
• old school laser tag. the best event Era EVER had.
• selling my flute for dirt cheap to Smu. I think I traded it for an m4. he wound up making thousands of dollars off of it and became one of the richest players on the server.
• Falkon Jenova.
• Alloric Draven being the biggest **** talker Era had back then, next to 2pac.
• when Wil was known as Wild Wil Soul and wasn't a douchebag.
• sparring Meph to try out for BH. I beat him and he got pissy because I was playing in full screen and claimed I had a huge advantage because of it. what a newb.
• getting a job at bounty hunter because there was a BHer vs BB spar tournament and I did really well, and with only an uzi. I got a lot of respect from NYChris and he hired me. I was fired a few days later.

I'll stop there. I have a lot of random and small memories of the server. I really miss old old Era!

When I finally got an Ak47 after weeks of mining, and showed it off to my friends. I remember when no one wasted shoots shooting guns (especially the Ak47) inside since ammo was so expensive

I thought it was funny when hotels stopped working and I found a boomerang and ended up selling it to get my house... Then I ended up getting my house deleted. So I traded the 80k I got from the house for a bamboo rod and m4.

this one time items started spawning out of nowhere. they would literally just appear on the ground. atlantis was down and there was a huge wave of dutchies and germans on Era so I thought they were hacking. there was a famas on the ground and I flipped a **** over it. then there was a flute. Jenn made me give up the famas but I said the flute was mine. I think that was the same flute I sold to Smu. karma's a *****

Only real memories I have are about when Cell Phones were first released, and prank calling people and calling random toll booths to see if someone would pick up. Also remember a week after they reset for the second (or was it third) time I logged because I thought maybe I'd have a chance to keep up with Era's economy and be at the top. First thing that happened when I logged on; Urban (an old Classic friend) walked up to me and said "do you want a gun?" of course I was going to take any advantage I could so I agreed. He took me to a building where he gave me 20 or so different guns. I logged off shortly after because I had nothing left to get.

basically scamming smu in the mall by buying something before he could [which was the second half of a trade he was doing with someone] and then instantly getting trapped in a chain of staff blocks and dragged around by Smu until I sold it back to him...he even made me pay for the mall stand so I lost money =[

anyone remember how big the sewers used to be? there were all these little secrets to be discovered and you would always try not to get glitched and warped onto the wall or else you'd have to start all over again it was so much fun just venturing off into the sewers.

On the note of the phones, I used to love calling the payphone that used to be left of unstick me a few years ago.

I would be close by and if either end hung up, the other end would not be disconnected and could not move until they also said :end call, so when someone answered I would say 1 simple line: "I hope you know how to hang up the phone", hang up on them, run there and beat them to death slowly as they fumbled to figure out how to hang up.

Big Momma House hosted 1 time by Magic Bush (that happen when Big Brother just came on TV)

Back when Era was exciting was my favorite. The old EFBI Mine Quest that was REALLY hard to beat. Especially when getting guns like Uzis or Shotguns made people excited and happy....
Now I get an Uzi and I can drop it and say Eh. Indifferently.
