He based it on the recommendations not the application.

I seriously doubt that; I don't know what he based it on actually.

I had recommendations from Tig who probably does more work for GK than anyone, and a person I've worked with for 3 or 4 years (he is my manager).

From what I saw you didn't have recommendations from anyone who would be considered someone who you have had experience working with as staff, or any kind of special recommendations.

I'm guessing it was based more on his opinion of people that he has known more than the applications.
