But if a whole new type of weapon were to be added, limiting to one kingdom would be unfair. Let guns be "RP invented" on Gk first, and then after some plain, weak, primitive guns circulate throughout the server, Pirate "inventors" can create a custom gun.

I wouldn't mind seeing guns on GK given the have short range capability and not fire endlessly. Also reload time would have to be quite extensive.

Each kingdom would be perfectly fine if this was organized so that they each had to submit 1 shield, helmet, body-armour, cloak, and weapon.

Also, you should note: The belts gloves, bracers, and boots are already useless for the stated purpose(s) of this project. (Well, maybe not useless, but definitly not very helpful compared to the other equipment; How are you supposed to walk around and say "Hey, I'm a Zormite. Can't you tell by my gloves?" Somone could be dumb enough to troll me and say "Show off on trade-tables." Go ahead. I dare you.)


On another note, I still think there should be a pirate pistol of some sorts on GK. With limited/balanced capabilities, it would be perfectly fine. With some careful designing it would fit right in. But who would script it (if you want balance, you have to be sure you trust the person will deliver)? Or rather, who CAN script a new GK weapon that's not just a clone of the others, but has its own mechanics to it? (I still don't understand how that stuff works... regarding GK and what people can develop on their own without access to stuff they can't acquire.)

They're all useless without stats. There's no reason to equip them for looks, then immediately switch back to your uber armor after a few seconds. There needs to be some benefit to carrying it around.

Also, some Kingdoms don't even have their first armor set, why can't we get some now?

Well, I designed it just for fun. Even if Stefan liked the idea, it could've been for all kingdoms.

But, in a way I think it would be pretty much useless except show, because if you think about how long it actually takes to load a flintlock pistol, all the pirates would be dead on GK.

Unless they carried 10 or so, but that brings us into the matrix

Unless you were able to see all the items your actually wearing. Which would be one heck of a job in making sure it all didn't mush together on the player.

Oh, I love my equipment too, without a doubt. I was just saying, if the kingdoms do get armor sets, we should be able to see them, which might or might not work depending on if it could be done just right.

At least the belts or shoes. Bracer's I'm not sure about, because the arms are so stubby, it's be one flat color.

Some of the most sought after items have no sprites. Look at RoW. Just give the items some kind of stat so they have purposes.

I disagree very strongly with new items on GK, it doesn't solve anything and the novelty they bring fades quickly.

Instead you should create new systems and game mechanics so that they can be used to bring "novelty". Not just new types of items (anklets) or something, but things that have practical use within the game, so players rely on them. This way you get the novelty and the long-term functionality without damaging the game's system which is already strangling on 110 levels, ac, wc...

These aren't meant to save Gk, they're just here to look snazzy. They're not improving Gk as a whole, just adding a bit more to the individual kingdoms. I don't see how something minor like this could be a bad thing.

But Gk does need something new.

Pet battling, more ships, enhanced sailing. Tons of possibilities have been brought up, just no one's willing to work on them.

I'd be more than glad to do what I can. And I'll be the first to admit, that I cannot script well. The only thing really that confuses me is the figuring out whats server side and whats client side.

Guess I'll look for a tutorial on it.

It would be nice for GK to get an overhaul on a lot of things, with lots more added. If that were to ever happen, and it was good, a server reset might be in order. But that may never happen.

You're ignoring the suggestion of having these items work WITH your good armour. Example: You're wearing a pmop, you get PMoP stats, but you SEE Zormite Armour. This means you can wear whatever you want and still use your kingdom's look (think of the current gfx-glitching techniques people use). This was how I interpreted Sky's idea. That's how this discussion started.


Though the trade-in plan is a lot more solid than this.

You mean the 5 people who regularly play GK? Or the people with uber-elite items, who are using expired subscriptions (if they ever log on) and not even paying for the game anymore?

Face it, if they can draw in players after a reset, they'd be better of pissing off the few greedy players who can't let go of some items they probably paid USD for anyways. I got nothing against "USD'ing", but if you're gonna do it, don't expect Graal staff to support it. Which is what they do if they give in to players' protest to a reset (but that's assuming they themselves would want a reset).

I'd love to see a reset.

I wouldn't. I have items I love, and I haven't paid for anything aside from my account. A reset would cost some people hard work that they put into what they own. Leveling needs to be drastically changed if there's going to be a stat reset. The needs to be a vast selection of publicly obtainable items if items will be reset.

Why? classes are useless until the current ones are better defined. Any class can do anything the others can.. that needs limited, though this isn't the thread for that.. make a new one.

Bringing back the topic to the orignal meaning, anyone have any more idea's on some kingdom specific items, even if they are basis for another kingdom?


I have a few things, say I'm going to try and make for Forest. It's not like there going to be used, but expect something tommorow morning/night, either for CP or Forest. Heck, maybe even Zormite :P

I was only picking on Zormite. I do like a lot of the things you guys created.

But I do agree. Things should be moving underway now. Waiting on me to get finished will only make it longer. I'll just submit them late if Klay wont flay me alive for being such a pest

If you're willing to do graphics, you should talk to someone about helping make new items for events and such. With a full bodied staff, there should be no reason for there to be no updates, even outside of holidays

As far as I'm aware, every kingdom has at least a few submissions. I imagine a decision is being thought out about if you can trade your items in just for a GFX change while keeping the same stats, or if each item will have new stats.

Originally the plan was new stats on each item. From what I read, the people on this thread are divided on the issue.

While this idea is good for balance, it almost eliminates potential content. For example, if the items are completely new/seperate items, they could have an "excuse" to add a bunch of other stuff, like maybe "kingdom-quests" required to obtain these items. The only solution I'd see to make the two ideas work together would be, you finish the quests (or whatever extra system/content would be set in place), and as a prize are then given the option to "trade" your equipment for the newer stuff.

And adding some new content to go with this would definitly help GK. Maybe we can finally have monsters on kingdom islands, then have some rare-monster drops that can be used to craft these kingdom items?

Oh by the way I talked to Stephen about the whole swap and item for kingdom GFX he pretty much said no. It'd take way too much work and wouldn't be all that rewarding. So start coming up with stat ideas again.

An entirely new system would need to be created to support it AFAIK. If we had some developers other than myself I'd ask them.

Would having "Kingdom theme" added to each piece of armor's show/hide menu be too hard?

Also, just posting Zormite's final set, since it's been spread out through multiple pages.

Helmet: Str+1, Pow+1, ac+1, resist cold +10, resist lightning -10
Gloves: Pow +1, magic +1, resist lightning -5, Attuned: Cold
Sandals: Speed +1, ac +1, dex +1
Armor: Con +1, ac +1, resist cold +15
Bracers: Wis +1, ac +1, resist fire +15
Shield: Pow +1, ac +2
Belt: ac +2, cha +1, int+1, Attuned: "Swimming" (You'd expect a fish race to be able to swim further than shallow water)
