they can be used as emoticons. I don't see why not.
Even though I'm not sure if the éèÃ*öüä letters are accessible on American keyboards :/

Ooooh you said the "h" word tsk tsk and not everyone has an eccentric keyboard. I don't have those funky letters on my keyboard because I have a REGULAR keyboard.
