Maybe not, but they can improve it.

Obviously, something can fix GK. (Even if it means deleting everything and starting from scratch- that's still something... Not to mention all the other suggestions we've all agreed upon, but have not seen done.)

And after doing the farming they will get that it would be easier to kill the evil bomy lurking under the tomato plants if they would got higher level and go seek for help.
You lost me at the last sentence. Also, I had to read it twice to understand the parts before that.

Well that depends on how many people are down and whether or not it's well-organized and if we're sure we can get something down and how exactly we will revolt.

I am against a reset. I'll explain why..

Lets pretend GK has just reset. People are showing up and leveling up again, items are being crafted and enchanted/blessed. After several months half the server is level 110.

We would be back to where we are right now. People on pmode, kingdoms not being active, and the server again collapses, more rapidly than before.

To avoid this, the most simple steps to take are to pull up some older code that hopefully is sitting in a backup file somewhere.

- To prevent high levels again, re-implement EXP loss on death. This time, however, rather than removing it, this will need to be tweaked to get it set at just the right rate of loss. So while some people that pk can gain decent level advantages, they will still lose levels if they are killed. Death should mean more than a quick respawn, and levels should be low, and stay low. It keeps things even for everyone.

- Removal of weapon improvements and armor enchant scrolls. This will prevent people from slaughtering the current in game monsters with one hit. Lords will take groups to kill. And fighting will be more even.

- Removal of most safe zones, pmode only for your first 6-12 hours in GK. This will remove the worry of people constantly killing newbies and such. However, there should be a timer that actually indicates your time left in protective mode so you won't be caught off guard.

- Each kingdom's small island would be capturable and the kingdom treasury would be used to fund the construction of additional defenses and npc soldiers to defend the islands. Each time a nation defeats another nation, the winner would gain 1-10% of the defeated kingdom's treasury funds.

A seperate, new gold server could be created then and this server could be the result. Perhaps even change the main gmap, and all of the features to give it a new world feeling.

If GK dies, then leave it up to administration to decide when and how. But we are all screaming for change, if it won't come with the current server, I would love to see a new server.

I would pay to play something that offered us enjoyable content.

I would not pay to play a reset version of this GK.

A reset alone would fix A LOT of problems. IMO, enough to have some fun for a while.
Besides, the current administration has showed us that a reset is the only realistic action you can expect from them. All that stuff you mentioned requires.... work. And why would they want do actual work? It's not like we're paying to play or anyth....owait

Anyways, I would play a server like the one you mentioned. But, personally, I don't think that's what I'd like to see done to GK.

Also, the idea of your pmode, I'm not too sure about. With our current system, it would be total failure. First, the pmode-timer isn't taking into consideration whether or not the newbie is strong enough to survive bmode. But if the whole system is tweaked like you said, maybe PKers wouldn't be strong enough to quickly kill newbies anyways (you want to be sure the newbie at least has the ability to run once they see they're being attacked... otherwise they're just screwed- unless you implement some other ideas, like a respawn wait, random respawn location, a safe-time after respawning, etc).

The fact that it is a new server will make any argument of people not wanting their GK be like this more or less void. It would not be THIS gk, it would be a new server built off of GK.

As a new server, I'd expect to see some new developers as well. Those who have been giving GK a shot for the past year or three should be considered into dev jobs on the new server to build it up.

As for all of it's content, that would require administration to agree on what to set it to. And then for the manager and their team to organize and build as needed.

p.s. highlighted a part of your comment that sort of proves every nay sayers point on a reset, unfortunately.

Would we keep our items if the server was reset?

Some times I have I paid real money for (Not USDing) but say the Christmas items. You can't take that away from me when I bought it.

Resets typically reset everything.

However, it would have to be determined by administration (and probably would be another factor forcing them to never wish for a reset of the current GK server).

Opinions like that are why the server continues to fail.

You didn't have to highlight it; I intentionally put it there so you wouldn't gain the misconception of me believing a simple reset would permanently fix GK.

However, it would permanently fix some major problems like:
People who have benefited over time from "bugs" which were "fixed" (random alchemy, FID's/ID's, plat-into-gold-into-moreplat, party bug, the 2nd plat bug)
The major one being the party bug.
I'm not too knowledgeable on these things, but, apparently, it's impossible to get past a certain level with magic/wisdom/physique (because monsters give too little exp after a while), yet some people are way past that limit due to the party-bug?
That really discourages people from wanting to play x.x
Eliminating that aspect would at least keep people wanting to level up
