RP - A Captain's Beginning

(There is a steady breeze in the cold calm night rocking the Syntex II. Down inside the cargo hold, a young pirate lays asleep in what appears to be a pile of rags. His rest comes to an instant disruption as a loud thump is heard, further rocking the boat.)

Pirate (rubbing head while waking up): What in the bloody...

(The pirate takes a minute or two to regain his composure. He kicks the empty rum bottles lying around as he stands to his feet.)

Pirate (slapping the mess off his clothing): This had better be Captain Crevas...

(The pirate climbs up and out of the cargo hold. A splash from the opposite side of the ship quickly catches his attention. It is followed by a shadowy finger climbing onto the deck of the ship. Through the darkness, the pirate cannot make out whether it is a human or beast boarding his ship. Expecting no visitors, the pirate reaches for his cutlass at his side and dashes for the shadow figure. Without hesitation he stabs at it with both hands while it speaks..)

Man: Waait! Ugh...

(The man begins groaning in the pain of the sword. The pirate quickly jumps back into the cargohold. He returns after a few moments with a torch. Bringing the torch to the injured man's body, he sees he has impaled a harmless man.)

Pirate: Crikey! I've caught me a blooming landlubber! What were ye doing here anyways, ye bloody twit?!

Man (dying): ugh...m-m...ail...

Pirate: Mail?! Well...let me have'er here then!

(The pirate opens the bag the postman has at his side and removes a letter from there. He lifts the postman's body up and leans him face foreward against the side of the ship. Using the sharp end of the cutlass sticking out of the postman's back, the pirate opens the letter.)

Pirate: Let's see here...
(slowly reading) "Raghnro....Diomora...the second..."
Hmm, well, yes, that's me. Now, if they'd get to the bloody point

Raghnro Diomora II: Oh, what's this? A letter from the Gov'nah himself! Har... well I had better read on...
"You are now a Captain of the Crescent Pirates..." (having trouble reading)
"...sail your own ship under the flag of the Crescent Pirates."
Well, well... a captain.

(After reading the letter, Raghnro pushes the postman over the side of the ship with the cutlass still in his body. Captain Raghnro walks toward the mast and sails and picks his hat off his monkey's head. He fixes its shape in his hands and then puts it atop his head.)

(Raghnro's takes pilot of the ship at the helm and his monkey climbs to take place at his shoulder.)

Captain Raghnro: Well, matey, we'll be needing us some new hands... To Bomboria!

(The Syntex II begins sailing while the sun rises from Raghnro's rightside.)

((Notes: In the spirit of my promotion, I wanted to post my first (or at least in a long while) of hopefully more-to-come forum and game roleplaying. Also, my character is Raghnro Diomora II, not to be confused with his father, the first Raghnro Diomora who was Governor years ago.))

Honestly I don't see why the pirate has to be seen as a lawless, uneducated, brute. I'm not trying to bash you, but pirates can be eddycated too.

This is a fair concern. And you're right.

See Pirate Lingo 101 for a Ghost Pirate's brief explanation on character-differences: http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=46791

My character, Raghnro Diomora II, is the abandoned son of Raghnro Diomora (he vanished after suffering a mutiny, and died before even knowing/caring he had a son). So therefore Raghnro II was born and raised as a pirate. He grew up on the Crescent Island and at sea of course, under the training of his father's old comrade and flag-ship captain, the ruthless Crevas Gec'vorn. The location of THAT character is currently unknown- maybe he's dead, maybe he's not.

So that would make my character... a pirate.

Also, he's still intelligent and educated of history, warfare, and more (due to his training under Gec'vorn). He just don't talk right, y'know?
