Nope you aren't the only one. They are everywhere with them.


Felix you could say that 1-2 out of every 7 new people have destruction scrolls..and am talking anywhere 25-200.

Yeah, there's some kid named Daniel on GK, just bought a RoW from a shop totally loaded.. what does he do? Sells it, buy a couple RoT's, cowboy hat, green cloak, that kind of stuff. Then he spends the rest on desto scrolls because he claims weapons are useless since scrolls are "in" at the moment.

You can't level from dust scrolls and if you did you'd just be stupid.

It will give them more HP becuase they will level the base level. But when it comes to fighting they'd suck because they will have crappy WC.

I don't see how there can be "too many". It's not like they can be abused or be used against other players.

Altough EVERYONE would hate me for saying it, I believe you shouldnt be able to write scrolls at your mental level at all.. and that mental levels should be globally reset after the exploit has been fixed.

Be glad I don't try to talk staff into doing something like this ever. Just saying my personal opinion on scrolls... In other words do try to reply to me expecting a response, mostly because you just won't get one.

Amazingly it might actaully promote them to level up properly too. Not that I don't mind them having a ton of health and all. Its just not fair to those trying to get started to see players that far into levels.

The lack of interesting items to keep going in the beginning levels is another part of the problem though. Most people choose to buy a few hundred scrolls to get health only because their items aren't the best.

Also, its interesting that a few people seem to agree with me that scrolls and alchemy should be changed some.

I was not putting the entire blame of things onto the items, but it has been known to be a major source of the negatives floating around the server.

I have gotten a few complaints (not neccessarily on GK) that too many noobs are using destruction scrolls. I can't even host a proper Events Dungeon because a few people use them. They are everywhere using them.

I would however go along with your idea Dayaa.

The thing about "making people go back and level up properly" is well... if you look at the experience per level on GK, and then look at how much experience you actually get, leveling normally is ridiculous.

I'm somewhere around Lv 39-40, and it takes me about 1.8 million XP to level up. Killing one of the Lords will net me somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 XP depending on how I kill it. So if we take it as an average 15,000 XP, I would have to kill approximately 120 lords in order to reach the next level.
If we take the assumption that on a good day, with some luck, I could take down one lord every 5 minutes (and that's really pushing it), it would still take 10 straight hours of playing just to get to the next level.

Of course, your mileage may vary, but you can see that as an example of why people decide to go the scroll route instead of leveling up "normally".

If you fixed the experience curve or created stronger monsters that gave more experience, perhaps more people would bother fighting monsters.

The people write to destruction scrolls to the noobs who go the HH and get imms and brutals to sell to people. It's helping a lot of people.

If you fix scrolls you need to add in a way to level up without using all this crap, or more people will leave because the game will be even MORE pointless.

It would be good if scrolls didn't give any exp but you could still use them in battles and in the HH the same way but with no exp from them.

Its the fact that so many of these are floating around. The people who have complained to me can't go in the dungeons or a haunted house when people are using these. They are trying to get their own exp and these noobs and whoever are using the scrolls in there.

In this sense it is unfair to everyone else. And like I said I can't even host a decent Events Dungeon without someone using destruction scrolls even after I mass that they aren't allowed.

What writers of them need to do is increase the value. instead of 5/1 do 2/1. That way less gets out there and you can make more money off of it. Or ask them to supply the scrolls and mana crystals so you can write it for them.

So wait, what I get from this here, is that you're not complaining about people leveling with scrolls, instead, you're complaining that people are using the scrolls for their intended purpose? That is, to cast destruction?

Why does it matter so much? People are killing things in the dungeons and leveling. Isn't that what everyone else does? It is hard to train in the dungeons or HH when anyone else is in there anyways.

No, I don't, because I can't seem to form a clear idea of what exactly it is you're opposed to here. First it seems like you're bringing up the standard argument of scrolls being used to level, then you complain that people are using them to kill monsters, which is in fact, their intended purpose.

Now, from what I can see, your argument is something like this, and if I'm wrong, then by all means, enlighten me.

1. People are making too many destruction scrolls.

2. People with destruction scrolls are sitting in haunted houses and using the scrolls to continually clear monsters, racking up experience for themselves.

3. People without destruction scrolls are unable to kill monsters at the same time, thus putting them at a supposed disadvantage.

3.5 People with scrolls are ruining dungeon events, because they kill everything in the room.

4. Profit.


Now, I can see why you might be upset about 3.5, sure, it ruins all the monsters that were so laboriously spawned. If that's the case, just disallow scroll usage in the places where you want to hold such an event.

As for the issue of the haunted house and the monster rooms, have you ever tried to kill anything in one of those rooms when you've got someone with 5+ speed, and a weapon of ZomG +12 on the hunt for either maps or diamonds? Just because someone isn't using scrolls, doesn't mean you've got a much better chance to land a monster kill. Shall we nerf them as well? I can see that going over swimmingly.
