You don't need updates provided that the server can function as a self-sustaining system.

If they go ahead and make a NEW server maybe people will have a reason to upgrade again? I never really got a chance to play much G2k1 but I remember it was good. GK when it was first released was a big "O______O OMAN CHEK OUT DESE GRAPHIX". It's 2007 now, they need some mind blowing 2D server while 3D is being developed.

Now, I pointed out that 2002-till now is what's pushing Graal forward because most of what has been done since = classic list. Guess who plays on the classic list? Mostly classic accounts. Guess what this kid was saying? Classic accounts are cancer?

Not true Zero's graal project is Gold. I think Gold is a standard in security, game play, ingenuity, etc.

If by "they", you mean the Administration, do you think it would be wise to put what they (Stefan) is doing on hold until they can make a 2D server to keep people busy until 3D is done? All that is going to do is stall the project even further.
There are plenty of servers online to check out, and keep busy on until 3D is done, not to mention making stuff for those who enjoy doing so.

I, for one, quite enjoy looking a the progress of some of the servers that are online, meaning the ones on hosted, or under-construction.

3D won't finish anytime soon anyway, they could have a 2D server that blows everything away as a side project and probably have it finished in no time.

If they want more upgrades then they need to do as Gerami said and make a new server that is more interesting. The 2 they have there is not attracting everyone that plays Graal.

UN as a gold server is a load of laughs.

A server similar to Zodiac as a gold server could get more upgrades if it has better graphics and much improved gameplay.

On a side note, what happened to FairyLand(Unixmads other project)??????

As for advertising. Hey why not try myspace. It has done wonders for Tila Tequila to promote herself and good for many other unsigned music artists, comedians, and self-publishers that want to get their product out.

I have mentioned this to Unixmad. Myspace seems to be around the right age range, and would be a really good idea to advertise there. I have a link to Graal, and a brief description on my page (yea, I have one because of my kids).

Myspace would get more 36 year old single guys and 12 year old girls than teenagers and normal people

myspace advertising is very good since people get stuck onto myspace
we do need another 2D server though..something for the players to knaw on before 3D..

-EDIT- there are alot of 12 year old guys and 36 year old girls as well, if they see it they are gonna want to play a new online game (i mean thats how i found graal). most old guys would probly be pressing the refresh key too fast to even see it anyways

You need a Gimme to make it work. "Pay $40 to play our game!" won't get the myspacers playing, but "Free to Myspace members!" will. Even if the Free isn't as good as the Subscribers, they'd have to be able to couch it as "Hey look, a Even Free-er than IMVU or Zwinky Graphical Chat Client!"

But it's gotta be better than what they're selling, 'cuz now we got people leaving as soon as they realize it's Pay to Play.

But things like imvu shuv ads up your ass why dont we do the same for our trials and give them a bit more access then?

Have to actually have content to advertise, first of all. Even now, people are complaining nothing on the site that they claim when you subscribe is offered. Try dealing with that after working to organize a large advertisement. There's no need to even consider advertising until they sort out the game itself first, and make sure it's worth advertising, and they can give what they offer.

It'd be so much easier for them to just round up good developers and make a 2D amazingly awesome server. I'm sure G2k1 was a revolution when it was released, and I know GK blew my mind away with it's 3D terrain. Time for another one.
