umm I have a question, if the winner happens to use part of another logo or idea, will the person that comes up with the part or idea get a small prize?

Here is my crack at it. Of course, it can be edited and refined, so give me some input.

Too complicated, too big.

Think of a logo we could use on the main page, like as the title or something.

Well of course, making it smaller is no problem at all, but when you say its too complicated, are you talking about the detail on the globe part?

Zone isn't a significant part of Graal though. GK I can understand because it's currently the flagship server but not Zone. Also you really only need classic to represent the classic list, seeing as how it's the daddy of them all and most of them use the same graphics anyway.

Oh actually, I didnt make it with Zone in mind. I wanted it to represent "Universal" instead of Zone. I think I can come up with an alternative.

I kinda don't like this fractal/plasma design of the G, no idea why.

Cant anyone make stone letters, who are very old, overgrown with plants and so on? that would rock.

Again guys, Demisis hit it right on the mark with his post:

Anyway, a lot of you guys aren't really posting logos. A logo isn't a banner or an emblem.

These are some examples of logos. Notice how they don't really say anything but they're instantly recognizable?

It needs to be something small and unique like those.
The logo should be very simple and taken from a very small color palette.

For "Simple Color Pallette" I'd say "The newbie shield", but while the design therein is unique, it's hard enough to replicate accurately that it would botch the Memorable quality.
The trouble is, we're trying to convey a complex concept in a symbol, when nobody ever does that. How does say "A cola product with a high concentration of sugar but which is the rival to Coca-Cola and the choice of a younger generation"? Only by association.
Thus, we'd need to not only forge a new logo, but hide it in every world so insidiously that it becomes The logo. The same way the Triforce shows up everywhere in Zelda, the same way every Pepsi can has the logo, and every McDonalds product bears the M even when they can't fit the rest of the cDonalds.

Ideally it should be something preexisting, like the Grail emblem. But it doesn't have to be, because all the preexisting logos are kinda...ambiguous. "A cup? What game's A cup?" "A ying yang?" "A red sword?" "A shield with some weird japanese writing on it?"

Geometric Logos: Circle with a sine wave. Triangle with an inverted triangle. Triangle with an O in it...
Mascots: Yellow man running. Bee buzzing in a wavy path. Dauchsand mother with 4 puppies. None of these have anything to do with the game, they're just fun. My logo has nothing to do with my business;
Typographic solution: Colorful letters on a white background (Google, Ebay). Two tone letters and background (UPS, Netflix). I'd suggest Tempus Sans ITC, but as has been pointed out, Graal's identifiable "Blue Shadow" style doesn't hold up well with white-on-white. Green text then? Or will it have a green background everywhere it goes?

I think the logo should be an intertwining of the newbie head, shield, and sword, since those are the first thing you have when you start. No idea how to do it, but it would be cool.

I think I've got a pretty good one, but I'd need someone with a degree in Flash (or at least vector art) to do the finishing touches.

First logo: Vaguely iconic of a Graal.
Second logo: it can rotate into a G, and thus spell out the website header.

Hmm, I've had logos made cheaply in the past. If you know what you want, you can get it done rather cheaply. You really dont need to go down the whole £400,000 LONDON 2012 olympics route.

The two logos were $120 each, and the other thing is some random image a friend did. There are skilled people out there that will work for little/nothing.

Ignore the **** quality of the clanjam one, I saved it as a gif in paint by accident.

I have an idea, but probably shouldn't say. But if it is for that, then they really should get one professionally made unless someone on here makes one a lot better than the examples posted so far.

The icon? It's a vaguely meaningful, easily reproducable, geometric shape. Pepsi's logo doesn't say PEPSI, but it has been associated so closely with Pepsi for so long that we see it and say "Oh. Pepsi." So it doesn't Mean anything (though if you flip it over and extend the centerline, I think you'll be amused).

As for rotating it, the icon Could be animated into "And now it's a G! Then the 'raal Online' fades in, and there's the logo.", but that would require a vector graphics animator (one that stores the image as a series of geometric functions, eg "Circle with 3 lines" rather than "A bunch of pixels") such as Adobe Flash to animate it smoothly. (I suppose I could pixel animate each frame manually, but it'd be so much easier with a decent vector program...I just don't own one myself.)

Sorry to treat you like an idiot, but you didn't really specify which part you didn't understand, so I have to assume "All of it". Apologies if you've known Vector Graphics and Iconography all along.

Pepsi's logo is meaningful as it's on the billboard I drive past on the way to work, the vending machine at work, the shop on the way home, my fridge and on my tv. Product placement! It works as it's out there, it wouldn't really work for Graal in the same way.

Technically, there is nothing wrong with it, but at the same time as Graal is so small I think you need something that is related and meaningful to the game.

I saw the G in the 2nd one, I just didn't see what the first one was about, and assumed there was some meaning behind it.

I do think the best potential thing would be like these images:

But just the shield part with 4 images of relevance.

Malinko? and does anyone think it would be better if I made all the space around the G dark blue and then outlined it black?

All those server logos are horribly ugly. If I saw that Id think someone was trying to lead me to a spyware site it looks so unprofessional. And Im not talking about how it is now, Im talking about how it would look finished.

I experience in making logos and competing I would be interested to help but what does the winner get? Unless I miss read and you listed it I am sorry but I haven't seem to be able to find where it say what the prize is. The only thing I see as a prize is what Era offered but thats only if you play Era.
If a prize is made more people would compete I would think.

I am sorry if I just happened to miss read and skip the part of the prize.

Personally, I think we should choose a logo, pick a server, and blow all of Graal's money on a 15 second superbowl commercial!
