GK Fails

Yeah. I believe at this point, GK is doomed to crash and burn as a terrible server.

-System is bad. Everything is so imbalanced. A lot of things are buggy. No scripters? It's been like 5 years.
-Content lacking. Where is all this content that we've been waiting forever for? Things are just way overdue.
-Community is just decaying. People have left for other servers/games. The people around that are left are either elitist jerks, people that won't quit because their friend(s) still play(s), people with a crap load of stuff, or newbies who don't know what is going on.

Why am I still here? I have a crap load of items and I'm a jerk. I log on to lame and grief people. I also like to cause a lot of chaos and lag. Why? Because it's the only fun thing to do on this server.

Despite all that, I know how this system works(player-side) and all the content on this server.

With all that and said...

FIX IT ALREADY.

If you can't figure out how to fix it, here's a short summary of an option of what you can do.

-Push to make content for levels up to 50. Dungeons, monsters, items, quests... everything.
-Fix the system. Balance stuff. Make everything somewhat useful.
-Wipe and cap the level at 50. I don't think anyone would have a problem if you did this after the above.

They're going to let it die before trying to revive it, you know things won't go the way they should.

I think it would be fun for what is left of gk's active community to stop posting on the gk forums and see if they can get up to 2-3 months without any posting in the forum

I like all your ideas, but I think we should go more in detail with EVERYTHING in this thread.

Start a campaign to have everything fixed, and I'll be your first supporter

There's way too many "limited-quantity" items that weren't intended to be limited... mostly alchemy though. I still don't get how someone gets the bright idea of saying "These items create unbalance. So I'll balance it by seizing further creation, thus making the current-existing ones not only powerful, but rare and almost impossible for future people to get. But if you're lucky to have whole set of them now, you'll be godly in the years to come, and can even make a few hundred USD if you hold on to them long enough."

Why on earth are we ignoring this, GK has so much potential to leave alone, you MUST hire active staff to actully update the server once in a while.

Staff are so lazy, the only thing they ever have done for 3 years now, *im serious ive played for 3 years and nothing but HOLIDAY events are updated*
The server itself is awesome, but it is no more fun. Why? little places to train, rares are the ONLY armor you can ware without weighing yourself down, the only thing that makes it fun now a days is finding dias and hoping you get enough to buy a rare item, THATS ALL IT IS, WTH...

Yeah, GK has a lot of problems. It's too bad that fixing them wouldn't actually increase the playercount.

Some good ideas there. I'd love to see a new Dungeon, or atleast a new map. One harder than a brutal.

I'm to busy with my own Gold server right now (which I start about a few weeks ago). It should be done in about a month to a month and a half after which point I will have more time to spend on Kingdoms.

I'm also waiting for this new system for staff that there has been talk about. Did you know even Sam has to upgrade his own account? It's hard for me to be motivated to do work on GK when I can't even see my work on the public server (because my account no longer has VIP).

Anyways, that all isn't complaining, nor am I saying I won't do anything unless this happens, just an explanation (or excuse if you wanna call it that) for my lack of work recently! Sorry

But yeah, I still plan on working soon.

Active yes, but are they have some of the same problems as GK, alive, but not good.

Nothing will be done about GK, so I wouldn't even bother anymore. It's not even about having the will and skill to want to help revive the server, Stefan just won't have it. Hell, I can't even upgrade Zone because Stefan never gives me rights to work on anything. I managed to make my vote kicking system because I was playing a game with a similar system and decided to script one for Zone, but that was all my idea which managed to fly with Stefan.

Stefan wants to be the one to do everything yet he never has the time. Rather a shame to let good servers die out like that, but oh well. You can't really do anything or feel bad about it when you've offered to help countless of times and continue to get shot down. In the end, we all pay the price, which is sad considering so many of us are willing to help.

If Cyberjouers is willing to give up on the servers, then let it be that way. No point on wasting your time and energy on something that just won't go the way you want it to go, especially when you know it won't go the way you want it to go.

I see no point on reupgrading my account when it expires. Of course, I have over 180 days of Gold left, but if nothing changes by then, I won't be reupgrading.

Probably the reason it's doomed to failure is because the strenuous amount of activity required to get ANYTHING good and in the mean time the monsters are owning you and you're losing everything. Also the food bar sets a lot of people off because there is so little things that restore your food level with a good amount unless you dedicated your time to killing just shell thingys.

The thing that bothers me the most is when something has a bug, it is not fixed, it is just removed like runes or that armour that didn't weigh you down.

Food isn't a problem. I used my "stealing" skill to go on a quick hunt and get food quickly... a weapon blessed to bile has almost as good of an effect by quickly killing wolves or shell bomys for "food".

I try to help when I can, giving new people tools and advice. When I was in Zormite I helped people build houses. But I have noticed that Kingdoms doesn't have the community feel that it once did. I think if stats and items were more realistic and balanced would help.

I was going to make a thread about this a while ago, but I figured I wouldn't because I didn't want to get a lot of negative feedback. However, I probably would've agreed a lot with what Gambet has said so far. The lack of updates has come from Cyberjoueurs' mistrust in users as administrators on a good number of servers.

Kingdoms is going nowhere fast. The current admin can do nothing about it, and logs on to idle for a few minutes, and logs off. Sam hasn't logged in for quite some time. No updates have been done since the new battle system, and the update before that was magic and the new Bomboria, which happened close to a year ago. The playercount stays at around 20 each day, but sinks to 2 or 3 late at night, and sometimes to none at all.

I'm trying not to point out individual flaws in the system here, but rather how everything has been handled these past few months. Individual things can be pointed out about the server itself, but unless we look at the root of the problem, nothing will matter.

So doing nothing would be your plan? I'm probably misunderstanding your post but that's very much what i feel you mean with your comment.

Myself, and many others spoke up about this a few times years ago when a difference could be made, but still, it seemed like only the most hardcore players got what they asked for, some of it decent (new alchamy and magic system) while still other updates are downright unhelpful. (flowerbeds and a non-fuctional weather system?)

Well.. the administration always uses the same argumentation:

People will quit when they loose their items, they worked so hard for.

Maybe thats true, but thats no reason to not bring updates which would improve the Economy of g2k2, make it more playable, like dungeons, and so on.

I think in one year, maximum, the same will happen like it happened to g2k1.
Zone is the successor, and some players will overtake it.

Ok. might be a bad example but what about people that smoke for 3-7 years. They want to quit. Is it too late for them?

Anyway, it's never too late to stop playing, take a stand and tell these people to step up or go home. You are just prolonging the inevitable if you continue to play.

GK has never been a threat to my existance so I have never considered quitting.

Well then instead of complaining about it get on your graal editor or gani editor and make new stuff for GK. Like currently I am making a new dungeon for GK. I think Stefan would be pleased to have more help....more people contributing. Basically I usually see him working on stuff. I am helping with this one new dungeon but I might do more yet.

Yes we pay the usd to get more gold time but this isn't like WoW where they have a ton of staff who will update with new content. We as members have been told a few times by Bjorn to submit stuff to him or Stefan. I guess I got lucky that Stefan will be using my dungeon when its fully complete.
