Samurai Leadership Discussion Thread

In this thread, we talk about who should be leader of Samurai.

I'm encouraging everyone to not vote for Stromstedt. He has informed me that he will hold a wedding if he becomes leader and also seems likely to waste huge amounts of time on pointless kingdom LATing.

Who do you think should lead?

I don't think it should be a popularity contest. It's only because Sube is telling everyon to vote for Strom because she knows him in real life, it shouldn't happen that way.

Here are reasons you should vote for Strom from Strom himself:

Also I plan to bring activity into Samurai by not only starting off with a royal wedding, but soon I will have events, with Samurai Kingdom specialized equipement to event off. Such as the Samurai Kingdom Bonsai Amulet.. That is good because it has STR +1 and Con +2 although Pow -1 and something else -1 I can't remember. Nobody has that and Samurai boots of Haste and etc. I know what I am doing, I have plenty of experience on Valikorlia "
Ok, so he's going to try and push for an item that was developed under a previous reign. And by LATing he probably means using half of Draenin's work and the island I developed (Northwest one). In my opinion, every candidate will give you the same reason to elect/nominate them. Proofreading helps too.

My vote, is to have Staff look at the original nomination, and if it is not satisfactory then they just put someone in power. Someone who has a good track record and is not just the popular vote. Since valid choices in my opinion are limited, at this point I don't even care if they are currently in the kingdom.

I voted for Taikun mostly because he's been around for a long time (a bad reason) and from his few old posts he doesn't seem to be some kind of RP elitist. I'm not sure I trust him though, and I'd like to at least hear something from him.

Yes only 2, but we all know that Taikun will do a much better job than Storm. Taikun has played Graal Kingdoms for much longer and he knows what he is talking about.

Well.. this really limits it:

I don't see how it makes that big of a difference... especially since most kingdoms are depleted now a days and most of the valid choices would like to see running a kingdom are in Dustari or CP.

Nothing against your rule, just saying why I hopped on board with 1 of the 2.

I voted Strom because I think he cares more about the kingdom then Taikun, Taikun joined yesterday. Strom hasn't been around very long but he's longer in Samurai then Taikun.

Hmm I think its not that good to have some kingdomless or a "strangers" from another kingdom as king. But I thought maybe some citizens want to nominate themselfes or so.

I would jump in, but I've too much to do this semester at school, and don't feel that would help. I did enjoy working on physical aspects of the kingdom, though, but Bjorn seemed all too eager to pull my work from me after my gold ran out. :[

I could have sworn that the Bonsai Pendant aka The Rosary of the Sacred Tree was put on debug through the efforts of both myself and Damix about a year ago when I was Emperor. And considering that it hasn't been uploaded over the course of the last year, I think it's a weak point to bring to the table.

Plus, you shouldn't pass off other people's work as your own as kyden has already said.

That's all good and fine. I will just continue to hold my opinion that it's really a contest of who can get more people to go to the forums and vote for them. It's not about who's qualified.

I'm not talking about that. I don't claim that work, either. I'm referring to the work I did on Nighthawks, as well as updating the embassy, creating a gear set for Samurai, correcting gmap mistakes, updating the storehouse, as well as improving the sparring center Andrew had begun so long ago.

They work very similarly... I got bombed with PMs when I logged on GK. "Vote for so and so." "Why'd you vote for so and so."

You're still limiting the choices for people. However I will nominate someone else just to add some mix.

I personally think that elections are unfair for Kingdoms. Usually I think it's better to pass down the lineage to other users. It seems like a better tradition for monarchies.

Problem was people selling kingdoms for USD. Plus, who knows how many accounts one person has access to.

I thought the current proposed system was fine. The person in power told Staff who they'd want, however, they had to back up their proposal and staff would ultimately have to approve it.

I am very unhappy about the frequently changing of leaderships in the last 12 month. I would like to see a solid leadership for a longer term than only a few weeks.

I don't really see how holding an election helps this.

Based on this, you should look at who has played the longest consecutively.

An election doesn't make a person stay around longer. And if someone inexperienced attains a throne, the kingdom will continue to go nowhere.

Elections won't help. It's mostly done by favouritism.
Who ever has the most friends will get more votes, you should pick someone who is active. Someone who has been around for a few years. And someone who a lot of people respect.

Yes it has nothing to do with the election it was more meant to express my hopes, at last I know its impossible to make everybody happy. That's the reason for the poll and what I see is the majority wants an election.

Of course not everyone will be happy. But I think you said it best earlier. You were wondering why people only nominated a few people. People didn't even read the thread, they were sent there by someone else who told them to vote whoever when it wasn't even the point of the thread.

But, it's hard to avoid and most likely inevitable with any player involvement. Oh well.

On another note. I would just like to add that this "Strom" fellow did not even know who Bjorn was. He identified Bjorn as Hatred89. Just a tidbit I found interesting for someone who is up for a big position.

I might vote for Hatred. He's been with samurai for a bit. One of the major reasons that I think Strom wanted the kingdom was in case Susse wanted it back. This really shouldn't be.

Nate would be a much better person for Emperor. I know this is not the maloria forums but he was the greatest king that ever had a nation on maloria and he actually helps people when they needed help. He's not going to just throw samurai around. And Hatred thinks he's better than everyone. And nobody wants to listen to someone who is only level 14 and is mean to people. Strom is a nice guy he has never been anything but a nice guy to me or anyone else that i have seen. And if somehow Taikun wins i'm pretty sure half of samurai will leave. Not many people in Samurai want him as Emperor.

Well since this is the discussion thread, and I've been nominated I might as well show why I qualify for the position of Emperor of Samurai.

Although I do lack the expereince of leadership on Graal Kingdoms as a server. I do have experience in leader server based guilds on Maloria. I know this is not Maloria and some of you may not care what I did on Maloria. But I did lead the best nation actively for over a year, and I think that should count for something. I did bring the Malorian Nation up from almost nothing, and that kind of seems at what state Samurai is currently in. Not only did I improve my skills in bringing the nation back, I also focused on the few loyal members to build them up and get a strong base. Then if newer members pledged their alligence I would help them as well. If I did get the leadership of Samurai, I plan to use many of the same techniques of reviving it as I did on the Malorian nation. Plus I'd likely add a few more since this is Graal Kingdoms and it is held at a higher superiority to be a leader on here rather then Maloria.

I think I could help Samurai become active again, with many fun events, and RPing. I also plan to do any developmental work on the Kingdom that NEEDs to be done first and for most. If there is none/I get it done, I would aspire to make more and new interesting additions to Samurai.

-Nate

Yeah not many of the other people have even posted anything about why they should be voted for. It's just going to turn into a popularity contest.

Is that even the original Taikun? If I remember correctly the account was sold for USD to someone at one point. Either that or I'm just imagining things.

Popularity contest or not, the Samurai people will decide if it's a election - that's up to them.
