Rts?

Why hasn't anyone developed a RTS within Graal? I'd love to see a Command and Conquer or StarCraft type game, I'm sure it would be a lot of fun.

Command and Conquer is like my favourite series of games. Closely rivalling Monkey Island series .

Except for C&C Generals...that fell short .

Raelyn was working on something like this, but stopped. It wouldn't be difficult, though. You'd just need to make a lot of functions with the mouse. However, building a stable army would be rediculously hard with about 60+ people. Not to mention all the spawned things will have a high chance of crashing the NPC server.

Mania and I were planning to create an RTS with a bunch of different modes and stuff...but we never got off the ground. I made a couple of tiles and he started on some of the systems but that was about it.

I think a Graal version of the game Advance Wars would be awesome. It's turn based but it's still a whole heck of a lot of fun... Plus you don't have to worry about lag issues. With cool stuff like weather condition and being able to build units and all that stuff... and even an online map editor... I think it would be amazing if it were massively multiplayer.

Of course it would be designed to fit in with a Graal theme... either GK theme or classic theme.

Most RTS games are 3D now is what I'm saying. Once the new Graal 3D engine comes out (if it ever does) I'd fully support this sorta thing. Until then...not so much...

You call yourself a developer? That's an awful way of looking at things. Just because a lot of RTS games nowadays are 3D doesn't mean that any new RTS game has to be 3D. 3D is not the end-all solution to videogames.

I still prefer 2D Zelda to 3D Zelda. Same with Mario. A lot of 3D games are fun but their 2D counterparts are just as fun if not more fun in some cases.

Just to fill you in... every genre of videogame started off in 2D. I'm not anti-3D or anything... it's just that I cringe when people act as if 3D is in some way better than 2D in terms of gameplay. It all depends on the developers when it comes to that area.

I agree. The only advantage 3D has is better display of characters in my opinion. But it's not like gameplay is heavily affected in terms of fun, just more limited.

I also wanted to do a tactical RPG...but alas, so little time and not enough scripting ability.

Ever wish you could just think about something and it would be done?
