I have had money saved up to rent a 3d server. I hope Stefan allows developers the ability to work on a server before Graal3d Dungeon comes out.

I'm definitely reminded of ocarina of time but with better graphics and more mobility. I'm so ready for making a modern server or a space server.

Graal3D scripting is just GScript2 with extra 3D functions (i.e. move3d()) and classes.

A game companies ability to write English correctly isn't necessarily at the top of my list for 'must haves' when looking to buy a game. Sure, you don't want too many issues, and Graal for the most part in-game (including the 'official' servers) has understandable/okay English!

If I want to buy a house or something as important from unixmad I'd want perfect English, but I'm not so bothered for a 2D game!

But it does say something to some people.
You're turning some of your customers off, as opposed to correct English, which wouldn't.

You guys are acting like the English is horrible or something, when it is not.

I have seen much worse English. Never bothered me because I was able to understand that the owner of the game/product was not from the US, and didn't have perfect English. Didn't put me off at all. I can see past it, and concentrate on the product.

It is practically simple English.

I just find it very unprofessional, and if I was new to the game, or a prospective first time upgrader, I would be totally put off.

He could have atleast put it past someone who knew English better than he did.

Why don't you try focusing on the whole picture instead of minor things.

I am focusing on an important thing.

How could a business succeed in a mostly English talking customer base, when the owners can't take 2 minutes out of their time for someone to proof-read their e-cards?

But si everysomeone speaked badly. The bad would look game.

If you own a game, with most of it's customers being english speakers, and you release something to them, it should be in proper english/french/german, w/e.
It's professionalism.
Not difficult.
If a few people will be turned off, it's not worth it.
How hard is it to have someone who speaks english natively to do it?
I understand English isn't easy: so have someone who knows it well do it.
Once more: a little effort goes a long way.

Oh you only say that because you read the Zone Forums ...

I loved those 4 videos for Graal 3D. As mentioned, very N64 Zelda'ish. The characters remind me of those, creatures -_-, from Animal Crossing.

Yea, it was a nice thought - and it was very well done as far as graphics go. However, the English wasn't that great, and it made for some fairly hilarious stuff.

The bad English was all a scheme to distract you from making comments about what the newsletter showed for Graal's future.

j/k... or not.

I am amused how intolerant some people are. They majority of them do not speak a second language and when I see all the spelling mistakes they're doing in their native tongue I am aghast.

I can see where some of Unixmad's mistakes come from because I study French. Unless he immersed himself in an English-speaking country and spoke nothing but English for a few years, he won't be perfect with it and you should understand that. The message is understandable, therefore it's purpose is fulfilled. Sam is right in what he says, that people who can't string together coherent text and speech in their native language are not in a position to speak. Hell, I can't understand some of your posts because they are so scattered and unstructured.

If you spoke to him in French, he would no doubt be very professional. However, it is difficult to carry that over into a second language. People learn things differently, so the least you can do is respect that he is trying.

I understand what you're saying, but there are many players who would be willing to proof read it. It's not insulting anything, it just looks more professional.

I think that's basically it.

Anyway, things are looking good so far.

I don't think they care about the spelling as much because they believe people can interpret their speech and typos. Anywhoo I like a lot of the stuff in the christmas letter its a lot of fun ,the stuff that was added.

psst! This is what happens to all the zone threads!!

We're not running a business either, bud. And I'm not asking anyone to be perfect here, it takes decades to master a second language. However, when there are many people that could be turned to, it would be very simple to fix.

Im feeling really bad reading this post. I was thinking in not post here, but I see you people didnt change the focus, so its hard to not post something.

Well actually Unixmad wrote the newsletter text, that looks be perfect.

I wrote the card text, thats wrong, how you know, so Its totally my fault.

Im not a cyberjoueurs member, I just helped making the layout and the card some hours before you people received it. Unixmad said to me find someone to help me with those texts, and I tryed to contact Moonie on Icq, but no answer. Then I asked Other-Graal-Person help, that told me one of this wrong phrases (that mykel told me by pm) was right, but its not his fault, since he looked be busy when I asked.

So it is difficult to read you people talking about unprofessionalism to the wrong person. Since it was my fault, not cyberjoueurs. Not a excuse, but english is my third language, and actually I never speak english with someone, just with graal people sometimes, and some internet communities.

thank you.

Unless you are the one who tried to get me to add that said "But I need your help".
If so, I am sorry, I didn't know who you were.

Anyway, the English on the e-card was not bad at all. Very minor, and was very nice.

There were only 3 lines on the e-card and 2 of them had errors.

I don't care if he can't speak or write English well. I know it's not an easy language.
But he could have asked ANY of us for help, and we would have been very happy to.
It would have made the news letter look more professional.

I don't care. I look at the thought behind it.
I would prefer not discussing this for 10 pages.

w8?? asking for help and asking the players to help with it would be professional? I don't think so. They can ask select players but not all abroad

brock128 is on a distinguished road
I find it amazing nobody's brought up the whole "pay for COINS even though you subscribe" thing and how terrible it is.

Didn't unix say "Graal will always be free" at one time? How the mighty have fallen.

\/ Six of one, half dozen of the other. Someone important said it.

yes some would. I said some players check it but not all abroad. I never said that I don't agree they should have fixed it but.... I think cyberjourers is a business and they runa very fine line between business and clowns sometimes no offense meant but Im not sure what the other side of the line would be.
