I was just thinking this a few days ago.

if......

if stefan released the source code to graal to a group of people that don't play graal they could make it into a dreamcast game butif we wait for x-box x box has native directx support so I imagine it will have a windows console and you can just use that and run your windows programs. hence graal, get a broadband connection and instant graal

Talking

Graal for N64? *begins to laugh* I HIGHLY doubt you'll EVER see anything like that. Also a Cartridge (sp) doesn't even hold half-the ammount of data a CD rom does..i f graal were to be released for any system (which I highly doubt it will be) it would only make sense to make it for the Ps2, Dreamcast, or the X-Box.

Who knows...

Graal would fit in a cartridge, its not really that big. If Graal wouldnt be 3D then it would definately fit...but why the hell would you make graal a N64 game in the first place? Unless stefan wants his ass sued by Nintendo, thats fine with me

I think it is more of the fact the Graal on N64 would bite major ass and that this is not related to NPC Server.

Even if Stefan wanted to make graal for a home console then he would have to buy the programming language from the owners of the console.

Nintendo just dosen't "give out" it's language so anyone can make a game and not have it licensed by nintendo.

If Stefan did make it for N64 or GBA it would be offline inless he makes it work with a Link Cable or 3 orther players for n64 you know! He would have to write alot of scripts for it to be offline and if he does make it I hope he has a level maker !

What are you talking about? No system has it's own language, maybe a file that they reference to but the majority of the games on X-Box, Gamecube, etc. are written in C++ and DirectX.

hehe...if that were true, then why have emulators?

each system has its own unique language that is specially designed to use the hardware properly. the only game system i know of that actually uses C for its language is the GBA....hehe...i wouldn't be surprised if the GBA uses and emu for its backwards compatibility

You should read documentation on different consoles...as far as emulation goes.

Oh yeah! Since X-box uses a pentium (worst idea to put into a console) it will use DX for its graphics and stuff.

GAMECUBE is specially designed by Nintendo to fulfill what developers want most and will be easy to develop for.

PS2/PSX is probably a small upgrade and stuff from the SNES since PSX came as a result of a defunct attempt by Nintendo and Sony to create a system attachment. Most of the hardware is somewhat identical to an SNES.....such as the sound processor...both the SNES and PSX use the SPC processor in them but I think the PSX lacks the additonal memory that the SNES had with its sound processor. That is why FF6 sucked on psx.

G_yoshi, there is no language such as Nintendo++. Why would a developer spend time learning a whole new language for each system they support?

Shows how much you know....please..go read some tech. docs on a system. you will see that they have their own program code....

and as i said before....what would be the use of emulators? Emulators take and interpret the code so that it can be used on a PC/MAC. Otherwise...everything could be played on eversystem....think about it for a moment....the Nintendo 64 is different from a PSX....by far. If what you are saying were true....you could just simply do a transfer from the 2 and they would work......but that is not true....that is what game porting is for.....the way a game is programmed in one language is taken and then interpreted into another language....

Please...next time, refine your idea on this matter. The only system that uses C++ is the GBA....the rest have a special language...that is 1 reason why the Sega Saturn sucked...cause it was hard to develop for. It is also the reason why it takes so long for third-party developers to port a game from one system to the other....

Yoshi = correct. The languages are often similar in terms of syntax but the actual operation is vastly different.

They use C and C++. However they all are like their own OS, therefore people need the compiler.

One thing that I want to see is a GOOD LONG 2D ZELDA on Gamecube.
They could make the game so fast, and it could be so HUGE that it would be super duper best game ever.
And they could have nice smooth 2d Graphics like in MvC2 or stuff.

I've read somewhere that Nintendo is planning on re-releasing some of their old games on the Gamecube.

Graal would work great on Game Boy Advance, but it would be a waste to port it onto PS2/NGC/XB because it has vastly inferior graphics when compared to todays 3D adventures. It just wouldn't sell.

Now... maybe if Graal 3D would actually continue development, then we can talk

That is true. Perhaps someday in the future, the Internet will be free like radio, and you can connect to it over wireless connections, who knows? The speeds wouldn't be all that great but hey, free
