Donations!

What if there was a donation box, where players would make donations to buildings...

...and in time, the money would be used to create buildings the players would want? (not something stupid... maybe there would be a Donation Admin and they would decide what is good or not?)

Heh, none of you knew this but when all the ATMs (that use the bank card) on Classic steal your money if you drop it, it put that money in a global cash fund. I was going to use the collected money as part of some event (a lottery maybe). The cahce was well over 600k but some loser decided it would be fun to nuke all the global variables the other day. NO MO MOU LA FO J00

speaking of donations, why not setup a IRL donations thing? have an address to send donations to cyberjoueur (sp?) for faster machines, etc.

Exactly. Remember way back when I went into hiding and everyone thought I quit? Someone ripped my address off a domain record and posted it asking for donations. Lots of people were all, "Post his address and I will donate!!!". I never got a single cent.

Many people will say they would donate because it makes them look good. But when it comes down to it, 99% will drop out.

Yeah, I remember that. I really didn't believe people would donate, but then I knew a lot of people respected you. (the ones who meant it, not just the ones who tried to looked good)

I think the big block on donations was the rumor that the person who posted the adress posted their OWN adress...

Though in hindsight, if I sent a personal check to Christopher Sohns, they wouldn't be able to cash it anyway, would they?

Oh well, I didn't have checks then anyway. ^_^

I wouldn't donate money, but I wouldn't say I would. Maybe if I knew you a bit better, Galen. I would more prefer if you sold things, sort of like Graal2001 accounts, at a higher rate. It's better for both parties, because nobody really likes charity, especially receiving it.
