Luda, Exodus and I have been toying around with the idea of creating a server. Here's basically what we've laid out so far. We potentially need account upgrades/purchasing of a server to get this together, but we wanted to see what Graal would say.
Concept:
The server will be divided into two nations at a bitter, unrelentless war. The kingdoms will not have any definite player leader (besides the best fighter, perhaps.)
Beginnings:
When you start out on the server, you will choose your nation. The nations will have a dynamically different plot. One will be tribal (I.E: Lizardon on Classic right now), while the other will follow a more sophisticated monarchy. Basically akward primative villages against semi-cities/manors. Depending on which nation you select, the server will immerse you into that nations point of view immediately. It will educate you on it's past, inform you of the current situation, and start you off on the neutral island. This island will offer no advantages to either kingdom. The Events House and other things will be located here to avoid favoritism. You will complete a few quests to orient you with the server (The quests will be the same on both sides and fairly easy). Once you have completed the quests, you will head for the docks and pay for a ticket to enter your home kingdom. Trigger another cut sequence laying out the game for you.
Player vs. Environment:
When you begin, the neutral island will be a safe zone until you've ventured to your island for the first time. That way, no one can destroy you for easy honor points etc. Once you arrive at your kingdom for the first time, you will be flagged to be attackable in the neutral zone.
While within your own kingdom, you will be able to trigger when you wish to be attacked by other players from the other nation. However, to avoid abuse, there will be a time frame on when you can turn this option off. This is to allow weaker players the ability to quest without constant death.
While in the neutral zone, you will be vulnerable to attack from others (except in certain buildings that serve an important purpose, so you can't get killed).
While in the other kingdom, you will be attackable by all players of that kingdom. However, if they attack you, they lose immunity to you.
Player vs. Player:
Player vs. Player will have an honor system, allowing you to rank up. Ranking up gains you respect and prestige through the kingdom, allowing you to use special facilities/gain special items. The statistics of players advancing will be tracked.
Nation Life:
Nations will indeed be player controlled. Kingdoms will also be able to exile you, allowing the other nation to possibly embrace you, or leaving you in the dust altogether and making you an outlaw, sending you to the corners of the world to never be seen again. However, exiling players will not be easy to avoid corruption.
This is the basic outline for the server structure. We will be using default weaponry and hearts, and it will be tiled with pics1.png. Feel free to forum PM for details. |
