back in the day, graal did not cost any money.
now, you need to invest money into it to host a playerworld.
so, people inherently think they should get a good return on their investment.
and, if someone has 100 or 60 bucks to spend on a hosting plan, then why not see if they have more money to spend on my development skills?
no one wants to go graal-poor. money means that you are not just doing this for fun anymore - you made a very tangible investment out of your own pocket and you take it a bit more seriously.
and taking things seriously is not what a game like graal is about.
the investment of money into servers, and dev. staff expecting money from you, has taken some of the fun out of graal - becasue no one can do all the development stages by themselves to a high quality amount.
other than that, before you buy the world:
plan your work, then work your plan. write it down on paper or notepad and draw your overworld and fill it in etc. write how everything will work.
too much trouble to do all that?
if you fail to plan, then you have planned to fail.
if you don't care where you go - then any path you take will lead to chaos.
you can have fun making something that is structured and logical.
please do!
