What makes a good staff member.

What do you think makes a good staff member and also what do you think is grounds for firing a staff member?

I just want to know before I make a complaint to see if I'm justified as there doesn't seem to be any set down rules for servers, only opinions from different staff members.

Good staff members always hold a neutral point-of-view as far as players are concerned, don't care about rights (as long as they have what is required), and deal with players in a polite manner. They don't try to instigate fights with other staff members, either.
Oh yeah, being good at their job (and doing it) is a plus.

People should be fired for repeatedly breaking rules (more so if it's the same rule over and over), fighting with players, not doing their job (or doing it poorly), or leaking the server's material to others.

So do you believe that when asking a staff member if they are hiring on a classic server they should not be coming out with things like "im not a friendly staff member *****" "i think its time for you to stop being a ****head and ****"

graal offers a wide selection of skills to become better at:
level insides, level outsides (some are better at one or the other usually), npc, graphics, ganis and so on.

You would not want to hire someone who claims to know everything, becasue that means they have done a little bit with a lot of stuff. For better quality, you want someone who is really good (ask for a sample of their work) at one or two specific tasks.

You want staff who will spend time on your server, making whatever it is that they make. That means they would give up staff positions (other than gp or faq) on another server in order to work on yours.

This also means that you have to convey a sense of excitement about how great the plan for your server is. It is a rare thing for a video game to go through every required stage of being constructed - which is what building a server basically is - and to have it all done becasue people believe in a dream, and have no return on their investment besides having fun.

To attract the kind of staff that are good, you must become a good server manager - develop good people skills yourself, treat people in a kind manner, and then observe how the people you hire treat yourself and others.

If you don't care where your server is going - or if your staff dosent care and just starts their own projects without asking you - then your server may turn to chaos. Much like the way a director filming a movie has to convey the sense of emotion to the actors, so a manager has to get across the style, idea, and theme of the server, to their staff, so that the ultimate story can be told through people knowing what to do, because they understand what they are told, and then actually doing it.

There's no reason for a staff member to say things like that, especially with the cursing. If I get a PM that's fueled by idiocy or I don't want to deal with, I normally forward the player to someone else.

A good Staff is as much friendly and ready to help as much as he can.
Doing his job is the second thing, most Staffs are a bit lazy (including myself) sadly.

Since I hail from Babylon, I don't have a clue what a good staff member is. However, good grounds for firing usually included not doing anything but chatting, being crap at their job, stealing scripts and levels, making the script debugger want to kill itself, and attempting to coup a position that was only recently couped.

No one on graal is a good "staff member". They all do a halfass job, beg for more rights that they won't use, annoy people to get on their webcam x.x, work on their own projects instead of what they are assigned, show less effort then a beggar on a street. Shall I go on? No one is a better staff member then me. I got on my dad's laptop in Hawaii and starting designing graphics for new projects for my friends server. I tried to make Babylon successful while Silent and Yen had cybersex, I started on Pixel Life and all those other silly servers in the 6th grade which still looked better then half the current servers. But while you wasted your time reading this post it doesnt matter because playing graal is a point of extreme boredom for me and I only work for Kuji because he asked me.

Wrong. You might be a cynical bastard and actually belive that, but I know for a fact that there are several dedicated hard working people on Graal.

yeah they are take Ziro himself for an example he works on the stuff that the pw needs and also take Snake aswell from era he helps with any problems and he fixes all the stuff that he finds that may caus the player harm

Uhh, no... You harassed and instigated my staff. Especially, you harassed me to quite an extent on AIM that if I knew you in real life I would press charges. You will inevitably be jailed on Classic for staff harassment. Even the manager has the chat log you sent him to complain. The worst part is that you can't see that you're in the wrong. Please close this thread.

I complained to you, you said I should go see a psychologist as you do.

There would be no claim in you pressing charges so bringing that into this is just to dramatise something, which is pretty trivial and make me out as some harrassing jerk.

I'm jailed on Classic because one of your staff members were rude to me and I tried to get something done about it? I actually don't know what to say other then bring up the question what has Classic's staff become?
