I am not going to touch thist post with a 10 foot pole
Both sides have very valid points. Unixmad wants to run the forums the best way he thinks it should be fun. And since it is his game he has every right to. Moonie wants to do her job, which is to do what Unixmad says. I agree with the opposition too though. There are major flaws in these rules. Lack of logic and PR. Unfortunately Unixmad isn't very experienced with being an active member in his games' community at all so I would imagine it would be tough for him to make rules for it. This has always been a problem and always will. The most stable times on Graal were when we had very active GM's IE: Galen or Contego. These times we had huge ammounts of players and big boosts in customer satisfaction. I think Unixmad is doing a pretty damn good job lately considering how much work there needs to be done, but he has to realize a few things.
1) He doesnt have to do it on his own. While Ibonic is doing a great job I am sure with GM.. I know from him being my friend that he can be timid at times. What is needed is a batallion of global contacts that are active in the Graal community (in-game and in-forum) And the most important thing is to pick people that arent disliked by a large ammount of people just because they are close to you, ie Malinko. And its also important not to pick someone who is very slanted like Clash. Who do we have as a global contact now that is EASY to contact? Moonie, yes but shes on the forums only and (no offense) seems more like a Manager than a co-worker. (NOT THAT ITS BAD) Think of it like a job. If you had a problem with the way the company you were working with was run you wouldn't go contact your General Manager.. you might contact a shift manager or an asst. manager.. someone that is more on your level and can SEE whats goign on from your perspective more than someone way high up.
2) Unixmad and Stefan are working in Retail/Customer Service. While I know that major MMORPG's won't appease every little player that whines or yells about something. But when a large portion of your players want something YOU need to give it to them.
That is your job. I am totally aware of the troubles with opening your own buisness and maintaining it. I opened a restaurant in my area and had to sell it because it was too much work (also because when I got the loan my credit score was too low and I paid way too much interest) And you have to worry about #1 (you) but you have to realize that in the long run worrying about #2(us) will greatly benefit #1. While it's only 1 or 2 people at a time.. people are leaving the game.. Complaining that they wont upgrade because its not worth it to just use the Forums. I am not sure if the Graal Administration realizes that this means THEY ARENT PLAYING YOUR GAME. People would rather make one post a day, edit their posts to comment if they need to respond before then.. than pay the fee to pay the game. This is NOT good for buisness. You need to keep us happy so we will continue to want to play your game. You see things like UN with 190 players. How many of those are classic accounts or trials? Theres nothing about UN that you need to save anything for unless you want to get all their 200 rediculous fun npcs saved to your account. And who gets the crap end of this deal? Me, and the other people who want to make GOOD worlds for graal. We are the ones that have to tell our non-upgraded staff that they have to pay 50 dollars to work for us. We are the ones that have to pay $150 a year to make a game for you. I love it, and I will continue to work on Mana Realms but I am
BEGGING you to at least try to put yourself in our shoes. It's tough and we have this stress ontop of real world problems too. It's just not right or fair and we need to comprimise on things or this game will run itself into the ground.. which will make me upset because I love this game and its been a huge part of my life for over 5 years now.
I hope this doesnt make anyone angry because it wasn't meant to. This is supposed to help both sides understand whats going on. Because both sides need to realize that there IS a problem.
PS: I guess I did end up touching this thread
