Graalympics 2005?

Is there going to be a Graalympics this year? I can't seem to get a real answer from mass messaging on playerworlds and I'd like to know for sure.

The Graalympics were hosted by Tyhm.. he's not around. But it's a possibility to resume the games.

Lack of help
I'd rather do some other events we have planned, two are in development at the moment and doing ok, so should be able to be done soon.

And then I wish to plan something big-ish for Halloween.

The levels for the Winter Graalympics were decent. Could've been better.

Either they start planning anything now or it'll never get done in time.

I'm more than willing to have the Graalympics hosted on Delteria. I'm guessing that do to short notice, and because it's by far the most popular event, we really only need to worry about Sparring? I'll ask Crono, or one of our other LATs, to make the levels.

Since impartial judges are obviously needed, I'll set up whoever the judges are with a low level RC and rights to the graalympic levels. Is there anything else that we'll need to worry about?

Everything should be ready by the 20th, which gives servers plenty of time to prepare their teams and run trials.

Weren't the Graalympics hosted locally by a classic server last year? In my opinion, a different classic server should be chosen to host it every year. Makes things more interesting .

I thought they were working on Graalympus last year, but it never got done.
I don't think it should be done on a classic server with hosts, it should have it's own server for the sake of not having a load of things on servers lagging it up, like NPCs and such.

Losing a negligible amount of lag doesn't really justify asking Stefan to do something that only helps the 10 or so best sparrers in the game. Playerworld hosting allows the globals to do things (or not do things, depending on how cynical you are feeling) while the local staff makes an impact on the global community without wasting anyone of import's time.

Personally I am glad Delteria offered to host and I support Dysangelist fully.

It is my personal opinion that it be hosted on a dual xeon 2gig DDR RAM with a SLAC(http://www.newsfactor.com/perl/story/20986.html)-style connection. At the very least.

Delteria... oh, you mean the server with the extremely corrupt staff (hell, even a PWA went on there and abused staff NPC's)?

Reading some of the RC logs from that server (Tort's deadjournal) make me want kill each and every person there. I especially loved how the manager just sat there and did nothing while the staff were total douches.

Good read, though.

I think the best sparrers from countrys should just build a spar tag team and just do this big tourney thing with countrys fighting each other, like TT.

Delteria did this with Classic and Babylon before, in '02 and '03.

Dys said there would be impartial judges, I assume that means non Delterians at worst and globals at best. So while yeah it is that Delteria, the corruptness is irrelevant to the event I guess.

Better than not having it at all.

I've always wondered why there are/have been so many people with global, or near global staff rights, and yet there are so few global events or activities.

Why not actually put a team together that is deticated to making global events, and give out worthwhile prizes to the winners, such as gold time, items from the store, VIP status, 6 Month server, ect?

As I've noticed recently, the GST has been playing PWA a lot.

It seems much more logical to put the GST to use for global-related stuff, and let the PWA do their job, even if that means hiring a few more of them.

Real cross-server interactivity is something graal has lacked since it split up from the main servers, and it could quite possibly be something that could keep the community, which is slowly fading, together and playing.

Everyone has a nationality in real life and no real life is not Maloria and Valikorlia, thats GRAAL, tryout to play a TT tourney for your nationality, someone takes out a team after the tryouts (some admin or something) and then tag spar other nationalities.
For example: USA vs France.

Wow way to explode over a simple misunderstanding.

At any rate, Dys seems to be holding a global spar tournament now featuring one fighter from each gold and classic server. It's slated to be held on September 3rd and is already looking to feature some of the best in the game, even though it lacks official global support and affiliation like the 2004 Graalympics.

No one has said anything about that, in what way are you a server representative?

In any case, how about a time or date?

I wouldn't be happy with it being hosted on a normal playerworld, the potential for cheating and bais for the home-server staff/players would be high.

People are going to say "Tort lol siva dreamers def *****" no matter where I play, but Dysangelist realizes this and wants impartial judges who are at least from other server to minimize this.

I think that If they did a Tag Team Event, then they should allow each server to have 3 sets of teams brought up by their events team or Game Coordinators or IchbanBlock Eventualitystff or whatever the hell youd say on Valkorlia or whatever the hell you call it, and It was To my knowledge done on a seperate server, Which was a good thing because the **** would of screwed up everything and its mother if done on a LAGTASTIC, a word i never thought id use, Server, which most servers have so much useless **** on its Gserver, It makes UN look good, which isnt good. hell, UN has more useless **** then any server, what the hell am i talking about, slap me silly bobby
