Don't be ridiculous, they're not buying the icon. They're buying the idea that somethig makes them stronger, faster, or prettier than the other players.

If you were rolling in cash you would probably do the same when you see how (in your mind) "cheap" some of the stuff is. Besides, it's not like "OMG STEFAN FORMATTED C:!". They can always sell it again, if they wanted.

But, like I said "I'm not going to question why they buy; I just know they do".
