Is that not due to improper scripting?

...no. It's due to the server being unaware of objects, and thus letting projectiles pass straight through them.

I thought the server read everything as objects with GS2, or is that only the player?

That doesn't mean what you think it means.

Honestly, I'm not even sure what you think it means.

This isn't a new GScript vs old GScript issue. It's not even related to scripting. From what has been said here, it seems that the GServer simply doesn't know about some types (probably those without scripts) of blocking clientside NPCs. Other than for blocking reasons, it doesn't need to know about them. So if we stop treating them as NPCs then we can reduce some of the strain on the server, right? No need to trigger them in response to events, no need to involve them when iterating through NPCs, etc.

The only problem is that the server isn't considering them when determining the flight of projectiles; the objects are there, and the client knows about them, but the server just seems a big ol' empty space. Hence, bullets are (from the perspective of the server) travelling through what the players perceive as walls.

Ah, well, thats a pretty big problem for a server like Era.

The issue was not anything related to scripting and making the scripting better (though if I took more time I likely could have reduced some lag). It was the fact my images were far too big. It was like having a 3d model in game - only the 3d model was pre-rendered in a sprite sheet. Graal can't handle images that big effectively (Well, Gv3 can handle them fine...that being said, you may see the space ships again. Just not on my PW ;-).

Also, reason number 2 I didn't implement a system like that is it really was not needed. It was a different type of gameplay. When you fired a weapon, it was near certain you would hit your enemy. It was meant for making the stronger player win. Of course, it was possible to try and dodge things..but when you've got missiles like homing missiles and magnetic bombs like SA had, you're going to get hit. Being able to dodge bullets is just insane, and that isn't what I was going for...the game was designed for serverside lag is what I am saying. Just not clientside lag...and that is the kind of lag it caused.

Hmm...that is a terrible error. Getting hit through a wall, though, is not as bad as client hit detection. A better fix would be to reduce the range of weapons to 10-20 tiles or so, and still allow it to go through NPCs on serverside. Just my opinion...don't play the game either way so I don't know how annoying the bug is.

The thing is.. The issue really isn't the lag..
See.. 80% of the server is PKing.
Serverside scripts = causes you not to get hit (Server doesnt pick it up)
Clienside script = you get hit

I talked to Velox, something's going to be done.
If Velox doesn't fix it, Snake will.
If Snake doesn't, well then I quit.

Is that true on Zone? It uses serverside hit detection.

Good thing only Snake and Rance are the only ones with the ability to give out random cash (which they do not partake in).

Kazuko is wealthy because he managed to take over three or four businesses legitimately. Perhaps you're jealous? Nevertheless you're implying staff show favoritism or that we are corrupt and it's totally inappropriate.

I don't care if he's implying that staff are giving out money (Because I know they're not that stupid), but it's not good for the consumer if Kazuko owns 4 out of the... 6 or so businesses that exist. There needs to be some sort of regulation that makes it so that the consumer is protected and people can start new businesses to compete against each other, and not just 1 guy competeing with 2 others and himself.

Kazuko made 18k from mining or some other method. From there he purchased Core Electronics. There he made enough money to purchase Speedy Pizza, Section Core, and Gun Point. G-Man all you do is complain and make assumptions. The most recent one I can think of was Angel stealing your scripts, right? Quit complaining about things you haven't even investigated.

Now back onto topic, I am very happy with the production this new management has made. I hope it continues this way and will be, as Velox put it, a new begining.

I gotta love Gman. You manage to say ****, and as soon as it comes straight back to the point you avoid it. Either way, we have new plans for businesses meaning he will need to pay 30k for all 3 businesses he owns. (He will not like it much). We might reduce the price of the idea, but it will probably be 10k per business a week. (Tax/Land/Electricity ect).
We're sorry about Kazuko dominating Era, we do not have another GMan on our staff team who gives out cash and items.

Well said.
Personally, I might give Era a chance now that SnakeAndy is in power. I've always expected good things from him, and good things have always came from him, so this shouldn't be any different.

We're the 25th. 8 days has passed.

The server's money has increased 200K. I think that businesses can take the shock?
