Okay, I've faced homophobia before.. but this is just uncalled for...

Could I get a reason/explanation for why the server called my friend ***?

Wee.

Background of the text? Do you mean hot it is disorted? look at the file name, .jpg, meaning he did it in paint what gives it the disorted look.

Actually, it's not a 'fake' or 'edited' SS. I took the SS as it happened on GK. Blame my crappy video card for any blotches.

I'm sure you could easily make that Moonite, but unlike yourself, I suck with paint and paint shop pro. So I couldn't make crap..

You are right, this message was made with a special right from
one of our Test Events Masters. We checked the logs and we
removed EM's sendmessage rights. Also we modified the
script so that the message can be identificate as a staffmessage.

It can be examined as homophobia, just depends on the person and circumstances of the persons personal life.

I was going to make some of my own quotes and then contort them in the same way as you have; a way which doesn't make any logical sense - but you've twisted them in just such a way that I cannot even emulate it.

I absolutely disagree! If, for some reason, you said "I feel circle like." I wouldn't respond with "Oh, you must be very square!".

If I got a message that said that (this was actually my first impression) I would think that it was just a very poor translation, then after some though I would think there was something that changed a stat that could potentially make my character be more attractive to men/be more attracted to men. (charm, perhaps)

Perhaps if the message said "You're a <negative insult followed by a sexual slur>" I would think "Oh, what lovely homophobia" *severe warning*. If someone said I was ugly I wouldn't assume they are immediately the authority on beauty, or that they were beautiful. I don't know, I am failing to make a SOLID example of my thoughts, but if I take the time to think it out I will be able to give you a solid answer.

Uh. I fail to see the relevence of the whole circle/squares thing to my post.

You'd think that such a comment was intentional? Think of the context, dude.

You also may wish to note that I used the phrase 'could easily be perceived as a sign of it.' I made no mention of absolute proof, of 'they are some kind of authority,' or any such things.

Oh, yes. I know - that wasn't why I was using that. When I was saying the authority part I meant that the system, or whoever sent it, was an authority on homosexuality, or hetrosexuality.

[EDIT]
Basically, I fail to see how that could, in anyway (certainly not easily) be concieved as a homophobic comment (based on that which I stated above)
[/EDIT]

I refer to Graal, societal norms, etc. Further: As a Graal Kingdoms staff member, shouldn't you know better than to even consider the possibility that such a comment would originate by from the game by design?

I'm well aware, indeed. I am assuming the average player would not know this, though!

If I told you, Lance, that you were ugly would you say 'Dear Lord... I am ugly?" I doubt it, just as if you told me I was ugly I would think "Who is he to say if I'm ugly or not?" and then probably think "Wait a minute, I'm dead sexy anyways."

Zero Hour, your arguments are laughable. I cannot imagine what agenda they are supposed to be serving.

It is extremely probable that the message was injected into the game by a user.
It is extremely probable that the message was intended to offend the recipient.
It is extremely probable, then, that the sender considers the term derogatory.

Which would make him a homophobe.

No, no. It's not especially an argument, it's more of a explaination of my perspective. I could not see how it would be understood as homophobia so quickly.

The messages being sent serverside (as far as I understand) would make a user (assuming players are not aware of the :sendchat command) sending the message very unlikely, so one would think that's not the case. Ofcourse, if it was sent by a staff member (which we later found it was) I can understand it being homophobic. Otherwise, I have stated my perspective.

I understand how it could be taken as a homophobic comment now, but even I didn't think it would be user sent since only Event Staff have the ability to use the command, and I thought it wasn't given to all of them.

Well, now I have explained it for you.

Are you unaware of that command?

Even most GK players have the necessary intelligence to conclude that it's probably not from within the game system. But they don't really matter. You stated that it was "not homophobia". This is an expression of your own conclusion, not anybody else's.

If you were ***, or if people teased you ALL the time about being ***, and you log on to Graal to find that message, I assure you, that person would be incredibly insulted, and it would be probable that he/she would take it as a homophobic comment. Period.
