Sorryto say but no. You don't have shading down rock solid bro because that's what we call pillow shading. As in one color after another getting lighter each time without any other sort of shading technique. :] Also your lineart is fine. Might want to read a tutorial on AA tho.

No that's the the problem when I'm saying from light to dark. I'm saying that's a frowned upon practice of shading it from light to dark like that. Find your lightsource then read a couple tutorials. If I can find some to post with Moon Goddess' allowance I will post some for you.

AA = Anti-Aliasing.

No problem about not being a noob. But I think you're failing to realize my point. I'm not saying you don't have a lightsource but find a lightsource and try different techniques rather than one after the other shading such as this. Try dithering which is the use of shading by dots. If you need examples PM me and I can give you them.

Okay...

1. what the heck is that thing anyway? looks like a straw...
2. what line art? it's a tiny little straw shaped thing... there isn't any lineart to speak of
3. your object is too small to even need much shading at all. hold a pencil up in front of you. how much shadow is cast on the pencil? I wouldn't imagine it would be that much. and if anything it should be running down the length of your object, not the ends...

Eh, id say the same thing as konidias. But also, you should try and create some outlines a little bigger. May be easier working with a bigger space than a tiny space where every colour counts.

HINT: If you want to do awesome line art, add more lines.

It's all about understanding how to create curves and lines that don't go north/south/east/west.

Dude, GFXing is a skill you can't be taught. I found that when I first started. I asked everyone to help but it's just no teachable. It's not like scripting or learning a trade skill. You have to read tutorials. And keep trying and read. Look at others people work and try to do the same without completely copying.

E: Demi I'm making you my second funniest on Graal for that comment.

You actually can be taught pixel art, you just have to teach yourself and take advices.

What I meant was on a student teacher basis. It can't be taught like if I was a teacher and you were a student...

E: Just my opinion but people who have experience hand-drawing IRL will have better luck in getting better at pixeling. Out of my own experiences this is true.

I'm terrible at hand drawing and I do all right for myself
The concepts are pretty different.

Free handing something on a piece of paper is drawing in one continuous stroke (basically) while pixel art is zooming in on an image REALLY CLOSE and then making little dots...it's more like a mosaic.

Smirt try to notice the words 'opinion' and 'own experiences'. I draw really well by hand and that helped me to understand pixeling a bit better. Lancelot9 drew by hand as well pretty good.

Can't say I agree... I use the line tool in paint nearly like I do a pencil on paper.

Sorry, no. That isn't a contradiction. Because you can't be taught to pixel Crono tutorials are to guide you and show you how to do things or to give examples. And when saying you can't be taught I mean you can't generally be taught how to pixel.

Exactly, those tutorials will TEACH you how to do things. So pixeling can be TAUGHT.

Wrong, tutorials GUIDE you....tutorials can't quite TEACH you. They can SHOW you how to do things which is like GUIDING. TEACHING would be having you studying and the such. Whereas no matter how much you STUDY pixel art you can still suck at it.

E: In essence what I'm trying to say is you can learn how to pixel but noone can teach you. If that makes any sense? Also AIM me? Argue on forums less?

Yeah they can. They can teach you shading techniques and how to make isometric graphics. Showing someone how to do something is the same thing as teaching them man.
