I got shading down almost rock solid (Not clasic shading but gold shading) I just don't know how to do outlines... Here is the best outline I ever did and that fact is sad. If I can get line art down solid I will be set to get better as I go but without even the slightest clue on how to do it I'm sunk.... Oh theirs no whight text at all here......Haha! made ya look. Sorry for being all wordy I'm love struck so I'm constently talking like a wrighter...

Sorryto say but no. You don't have shading down rock solid bro because that's what we call pillow shading. As in one color after another getting lighter each time without any other sort of shading technique. :] Also your lineart is fine. Might want to read a tutorial on AA tho.

No that's the the problem when I'm saying from light to dark. I'm saying that's a frowned upon practice of shading it from light to dark like that. Find your lightsource then read a couple tutorials. If I can find some to post with Moon Goddess' allowance I will post some for you.

AA = Anti-Aliasing.

Their is a light sorce look at the top. it's lighter then everything else.... heres another example of siome shading with a light sorce of mine...
Note thats only 2 pixles from top to bottom..... (And thanks for not being a noob about it)

No problem about not being a noob. ;) But I think you're failing to realize my point. I'm not saying you don't have a lightsource but find a lightsource and try different techniques rather than one after the other shading such as this. Try dithering which is the use of shading by dots. If you need examples PM me and I can give you them. :)

Looks great, just fix your perspectives instead of rotating original.

killerogue 02-21-2007 06:00 AM

Dude, I know that it's pixel art. And yes that is ok AA for your first time trying it (?). What I'm saying to you is not about it being pixel art or not it's your technique you're using. Read please. =/

I'd have to give myself an infraction for the image I want to link you to, but I'll put it like this; I'm not your mom.

konidias 02-21-2007 06:23 AM

Okay...

1. what the heck is that thing anyway? looks like a straw...
2. what line art? it's a tiny little straw shaped thing... there isn't any lineart to speak of
3. your object is too small to even need much shading at all. hold a pencil up in front of you. how much shadow is cast on the pencil? I wouldn't imagine it would be that much. and if anything it should be running down the length of your object, not the ends...

Tom 02-21-2007 12:21 PM

Eh, id say the same thing as konidias. But also, you should try and create some outlines a little bigger. May be easier working with a bigger space than a tiny space where every colour counts.

Demisis_P2P 02-21-2007 12:22 PM

Guys, why are you doing this to him? Can't you see he's love struck and just loves writing like a writer?

HINT: If you want to do awesome line art, add more lines.

smirt362 02-21-2007 04:33 PM

It's all about understanding how to create curves and lines that don't go north/south/east/west.

1. It's a futuristic blow dart gun for zone
2. My point exactly..... I need to learn line art I'm not asking for a rating
3. It's a weapon it has to fit the charecters...
