Bad graal.

Uh, all the sudden when i was playing graal i heard a loud boom, then the pc froze, and the most horrible smell rised from the pc.
We took all the good stuff from it and put it in mine, so now mine is the family PC.
My mom said i can't DL graal, because she thinks that's why it crashed, so i was wondering if there is a way to get graal in a ZIP or something, so i can hide it easily in network places or something.

Tell your mom it wasn't Graal. Tell her to stop smoking, and if she doesn't smoke - tell her to get rid of fluffy, yea I'm talking about your house pet. Heck, if it's not the house pet then you should consider shaving your dad's back a little more often. the computer over heated, maybe it was just the power supply.. either way it wasn't graal and if she has a problem that she can talk to me. (that would be so awkward and funny!)

Aye, marcoR is correct. You might have had too many things plugged into your outlet or, your power supply wasn't of very high quality. Typically those are the first to go, so if your computer doesn't turn on at all (no lights when you hit the power button) then that's what you need to replace.

The rest of your equipment should be fine. It will also make a strange smell. Burning up a CPU would only make the smell, no noises.

A computer game would never cause computer equipment failure. Well, the only one I could think of is your video card overheating, but Graal doesn't have anywhere near the performance hit to cause anything like that.

Your mom is a complete ***** and needs to be shot full of common sense. "Hey mom check out this cool game.. you play it then it makes your computer over heat real bad then..... BOOM!... There goes the computer is a great game"

::Punch:: Just do that. Knock some common sense into her. I'm sure she is a cool mom but if she thinks a game did that then she doesn't need to be near a computer.

infact almost all parents dont...annoying

and i totaly agree with all of you. the only reson that could happen is if graal sent a virus into your computer which got into your BOIS and could manager to change the power supply or turn off the fans or something. Maybe your fan fell off of your proccesor? (graal doesn't have the cappsity to dont something like i just said or i really doubt it can)

My god. My mom does the same thing.. Anything happens to the computed ITS GRAAL. I hate when parents do it.. Gets on my ****ing nerves... There is no possible way Graal of all things could hurt your computer in anyway shape or form. Unless it doesn't meet the lowest set of requirments. Plus the only way Graal could hurt your computer is freeze it... And that hurts nothing.

Don't overclock.

Oh, and to get Graal into a .zip, just right click Graal and click "Add to archive".

Err I am a parent of kids older and younger than you are and you expect me to believe you know more about a computer than I do and yet you cannot even spell right what you are talking about? The word is BIO (Basic Input Output in case you didn't know what it stood for) and a virus would not and cannot change anything related to the fans and the power supply. The only thing I agree with on your post is that Graal is not the culprit here and more likely a faulty power supply is, they do tend at times to short circuit and would do what was described.

I surely hope you aren't going to sit her down and show her this thread.

Although, I have to agree with everyone else here. Graal itself couldn't have possibly caused your computer to "pop" like that. Or, if it did, I'm sure we would have certainly heard about it earlier.

Also, don't act over confident. That can create a no-win situation.

My father blames/suspects me for everything that goes wrong with his computer... Even when he gets spam like the ones that say:

"Hi, my name is sandy, i like to be naked infront of my webcam"

He asks ME about it... As if I would sign up for porn to HIS email address... rofl

And, when we got a new stick of memory put in the computer, it started rebooting on it's own, so he blamed it on me downloading something malicious, even when I specifically told him it was the RAM... Finally he gave it, removed the stick of memory, and ate his words... >)

I repair and troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues for a living. I encounter parents who act like that a lot, and it's not just parents either... a lot of kids are that way too, whose ego's are just too big they don't want to admit their wrong.

Anyway, it's a simple matter that you can fix on your own. Replacement power supplies aren't too hard to find, in fact your local Circuit City might actually have some in stock. If you're using a manufactured PC, like HP or Compaq, you might be dealing with a non-standard sized psu, and you might want to take it to a professional to have that fixed. It's a simple 60-80 dollar part (non-name brand type psu which you will prolly get with a manufacturer specific technician), so it isn't too big of a deal overall. Better than spending another 400-800 dollars on a whole new computer.

It is rather cheap to buy parts and assemble them together to make your computer instead of buying it from a dealer. However it does take some time to familiarize yourself with the parts and how they fit in on the motherboard.

You payed almost 2k for that?!? My god, sorry its just I payed about $1000 for my 2.533 ghz 512 mb ram 80 gb 120mb video card and well I would say you got riped .

Anyway yeah I dont know how it is to have parence that know nothing about computers. My dad is a freaking computer genious he does crap in dos I dont even think I could do. He knows alot about computers so erm yeah, I dont have your guy's problem ^_^.

As for graal, just explain to your mother that is was not graal and that your computer was doomed to begin with. Infact tell her that if by some chance (which is not possable) graal did do this to your computer that any other program you have on your computer has the exact same chance of being the reason of what happened to your computer. The chance is 0...

I normally buy a barebones system and build it up myself. The last 2 I've had I've done this. You just have to watch what you but ay Computer shows though, just like this one I am on now the barebones system is mismatched. The Motherboard is not designed to run this type CPU, although it will work , it causes problems. The MB is designed to work on the normal AMD CPU but this one that came with it is the AMD XP series (1600) and they make a special MB for those CPUs. One of these days I will either just scrap the system or get another MB. But I really want to do is hold out for a AMD 64, right now the CPU alone is around $700 , for you guys not familer with the AMD 64 it works on 64 bit and not 32 bit like the systems are now. It is backward compatible though and will run the 32 bit system. Windows next system will be a 64 bit system.

In my computer I have an AMD 1.3GHz, hmm... 512DDRAM, 4gigs of Virtural Memory, 64MB SiS GFX Card(kinda crappy so I got to install my ATI9600), and I have like, 20gigs left on my HD. I play counterstrike, UT, and other games. They play fine. That cost me $700 (including my monitor, canon picture printer, 4 speakers+subwhoofer, and a network card for the cable), and that is in Canadian funds.

Oh, Moongod. You can run trojans that edit your BIOS to overclock your computer.

Thats what im doing :]

When I first started assembling my computer a month ago or so I thought I knew what I was doing..turns out I forgot to use my standoffs and fried my motherboard XD! I sent it back and said it was shipped dead and they actually believed me. I'm getting a replacement soon. =)

"Haunter" (I dont know the name that you go by), the ATI Radeon 9200 sucks..(in my opinion). Go for a 9600 PRO (still cheaper, not the best but still better than what you're using.) I'm saving up for either a 9600 pro or a 9700 pro. 9600 pro is 256 DDR but the 9700 is 128DDR so I can't decide which one i want. :[

Um no your wrong, things are cheaper in Canada they do not use the same curency as the united states. Check the exchange rate.

I just ordered a new dell. The onlything I did was make sure the ghz was as high as they could make it. But I got 2gb of ram in it, and 2 120 gb hard drives.

Which is why something priced at roughly $49 here is well over seventy in Canada.

Yes, things are certainly cheaper in the US from the American standpoint.

I fail to see your logic in this. The Canadian dollar is lower (though it has risen in the past few months) in comparison to the American dollar.
Where are you spouting this drivel from?
